trumps border wall under construction

Probably true. Other than for symbolic reasons, I just can’t understand the fixation on a wall.

Mostly because CBP, the people who deal with this every single day, has said that a wall in many critical spots is needed to stop the flow of illegal immigration and drug smuggling.

We really need a wall around the Trump administration, since they commit felonies at a far higher rate than immigrants.

I’ve seen the border in places where there is a barrier and the fence is either compromised or tunneled under. We can spend all the money in the world to build a fence but I’m worried that people with infinite time and strong motivation will have no problem finding a way around it. Not to mention the cost of maintenance on this thing.

its not about stopping it but significantly slowing it.

anyone who has a fence around their property really shouldnt be talking crap about this wall.

Wall + detection systems + more manpower. It's not a single solution. If someone has to dig under a wall, that still takes time and effort and manpower. Which makes it more likely that CBP can detect them doing this and stop them.

It sure beats wide open terrain that we have now in many spots.

Did you just equate a fence around a house to a wall on a border of a country?

Jesus.

Guys, we figured out how to stop home invasions. Build a fence. Works all the time.

I know how I’m going to stop the morons that try to invade my home. But no sane person is going to want that measure for border security.

I still feel like you can accomplish what you’re saying without the physical wall. That piece of low technology is not much of a barrier because you’re going to spend a ton of money putting it in places where they will defeat it within minutes.

Spend the billions on UAV and remote sensor technology. I’ve seen the remote ground tracking radar and it’s perfect for this use. All the pieces are at least TRL 6 and can easily be put to use. Build the automated system and don’t waste money on the physical system. Man the control centers and the interdiction teams. Discourage them by bringing your catch rate up to where they are getting caught more than they aren’t. Not by the symbolic wall that will be wasted money.

you do realize that trumps wall is just a very big fence right? and ive said multiple times the wall wont stop all the crossings, but it will slow and deter a vast majority of them. just like a fence does for a house, its part of an overall security plan for a house.

If they could simply pack the sky with UAVs to stop illegal immigration, they would have done that by now. What good are thousands of UAVs who detect movement if there's nothing in place to actually stop the people they're detecting? A UAV sends a live stream back to some base hundreds of miles away - by the time anyone gets there it's too late. The illegals are in the US somewhere.

A wall, or barrier, makes it much slower and more difficult to get across the border. So a UAV picks up people attempting to dig under the wall, and that affords CBP the time to get people there to apprehend them. Or it deters them all together.

It's not all UAV, in fact, that's a secondary response or maybe even interdiction. You should see the tech we've put out for Integrated Base Defense and ground track sensing systems.

Putting a fence out in the middle of nowhere without monitoring is a colossal waste of money. They will destroy that fence and no one will know it until a patrol happens across it. Then it will take forever to repair.

They're going to have to put monitoring systems on the fence that's in the middle of nowhere, and if they're doing that, you don't need the fence. Just the monitoring. Bonus, you neuter the opposition argument about how bad a fence is for America totally.

I read somewhere that 6 of the 8 prototypes failed the test so they are redesigning them. Are they building the wall before approving one of the models?

I am wall neutral. I don't care if it gets built or not. If they spend 40B on a wall that's fine. My personal opinion is that it won't be that effective. I know a much easier way to deal with this but the truth is that they don't want all Mexicans kicked out. They want to appease racists who got fired up in 2016.

I'm having a house built right now. Just a beautiful home, 3200 sq ft overlooking water. Every day so far when I drive by and stop in to take a look at the progress the people building are Hispanic. Today they were installing cabinetry.

Imagine if my sub contractors were held accountable for the people they hired. Imagine if my builder was held accountable for the people he subcontract with. My builder would make sure he hired people who didn't use illegal labor. The subcontractors wouldn't be able to use illegal labor and still win jobs.

And, the construction market would crash. We don't have the legal unemployed workers to be able to make that change. No one realllllllllly wants illegal workers kicked out. They are helping to build America's infrastructure and they do fantastic work.

This is just one example of a single industry that benefits from a strong illegal workforce.

Did you check their papers to see if they were illegal or did you assume that because they look Hispanic?

Good luck taking that contractor to court should they royally f*ck up your project or get someone injured on your property. Their insurance company (if they are actually insured) will bail on them the second it turns out that they had illegal aliens causing the damage and/or injury. You'll then be attempting to recover damages against a company that has no insurance backing and would just assume file for bankruptcy and pay you back $.20 on the dollar, maybe, some day.

I bet your fan fiction of me having a financial disaster because of illegal immigration got your dick real hard didn't it.

Back to reality, this will never happen.

This is how I know that you're neither serious, nor an adult, nor successful. Because anyone who has even a tenuous grasp on insurance law and basic sane business practices would know that this could be, and would be, a reason for an insurance company to bail on a claim.

My favorite thing on the WC is saying exactly what my fairly normal not that special life is and having everyone tell me how impossible it is.

When I said I had an MBA everyone called me a liar for 4 weeks like that is some sort of impossible accomplishment. It tells me a lot about some of your backgrounds that you think mundane success is so outlandish.

Aren't you the guy who declared yourself "wildly successful" and claimed that you were grossly overpaying people for the fun of it? Remember- you didn't need a tax cut, you are so wildly wealthy on your own!*

Hooray, another 40 billion spent on something completely useless, other than getting the dicks hard of racists. Trillion dollar deficit. The GOP is a joke.

As we've stated many times now, you can feel free to cut a check to the IRS for any increased earnings you're whining about.

If you don't know what to do with that then please, send it back to DC.

I don't want to pay more. I want other people to pay more. Not you though, I know you need the money. I want the ultra wealthy and businesses to pay up. Hope this helps.

socialists never seem to think that the rule changes they want will be applied to them, but other people. lol

Oh so you don't want to contribute to the socialist utopia you want? How shocking:*

You knew you were being disingenuous when you suggested I just send the IRS more tax money. Let's not pretend like you didn't ok?

No, I am being 100% honest. Not kidding. If you feel that your increased earnings for your business is a detriment to our country, then the only reasonable thing would be sending that straight back. If your stance is that you don't need a tax cut and you're going to rail against them, then I see no reason why anyone with moral clarity could keep money that is deemed a detriment to our nation.

I will even help send the check if you'd like.
