Way too many three-pointers without any movement. Arizona D does not have to work at all
On the positive side good minutes with Mike Williams tonight. Could’ve used Sellers. Got a shoot better and have better ball movement on offense. If this team could shoot in the mid 40s percentage wise it be an entirely different story. Nice effort, but they gotta move the ball more to make Arizona work. This would open up a lot of different opportunities on the offensive end.
That being said if they play like this n shoot better against Arizona State, they can come out of Arizona one of two.

What?? How do you climb back with no effort? Dawkins is a good coach and doing just fine in the Big 12. 11-4 (2-2). All 4 losses are to good teams (Wisconsin, LSU, Kansas, Arizona). We also have a top 10 win (Texas A&M). Who in the hell do you think we are???
Going a couple games over .500 in B12 games probably gets us in. Have to win remaining home games and steal a couple on road. This year I just want to make tourney. Small steps.
Within a game or two of 500 has gotten Big 12 teams in the past we will see. We have a top 10 OOC win which is big and a nice road win in the Big 12. We are in a good spot but we need to keep it going It only gets tougher. Arizona played well last night at home They are a Top 10 just stumbled early but will be there at the end of the year Good effort, a lot to draw from. The fact they were in the game with the shooting % is impressive. D Johnson has impressed with leadership too. Thiam looked good in this hostile environment for a young freshman

They didn't "climb back" The Wildcats took their foot off the gas. Once Arizona got back on it, it was over.
That sounds so ridiculous. They came back and took the lead in the first half in ONE OF THE MOST HOSTILE ENVIRONMENTS IN COLLEGE BASKETBALL. They climbed back again in the second and never gave up. Against a very good Arizona team. Check their resume.
You sound delusional. Which I'm aware some of our fans are. How can anybody call for Dawkins to be fired with the job he's doing in Big 12 year #2? It's damn near comical because he has us on pace to make the tourney. We're not Duke, UCONN, Kansas, or Gonzaga. Get for real.

U can tell ur posts have real thought and a sense of objectivity to them There are others too that have ur sense of quality but there r too many others posters that are here to inflame with little knowledge or irrational posts without thinking out the process. Anybody who thinks UCF got blown out or was not competitive last night did not see the game. Kansas yes, last night no If they shot a little better they had a real chance.

Thanks man you as well. I love UCF. I mean love it. Very passionate about it so I'm not gonna go for all the bs that goes on on this board like some allow. Our basketball team is currently overachieving. Almost a brand new team. How can you not be satisfied with the results so far?
He did give the team good minutes ..moved well on the court , looked more athletic, a couple nice passes
I thought the back up center played well. Made some nice shots and his minutes were positive as opposed to just holding down the fort kind of minutes.

he use to shit on mckenzie back in the day too so dawkins is in good company. he's just miserable.
even if dawkins is never able to get us past average in b12 and gets fired, this job won't be viewed as a bad unwinnable situation.
This team isn't making the tournament. They're going to go to Arizona State and get clobbered. They are about to lose 6 in a row.
Team consistently starts game slow…it’s a killer. Still see us 10-10 in conference play, finishing 19-12, knocked out early in the Big 12 Tourney and maybe an invite to NIT.
Johnny’s team just underperform….and then we start all over next season with most of the roster turned-over.

On the offensive end, especially the boards, yes....but our defense (something Johnny takes pride in and told us would be the focus this year like it was last year) continues to underperform. It's obvious that any opportunity to make the tournament is dependent on our defense getting better. I'm just not sure that's the mentality of some of our guys and the big guy just can't seem to stay on the floor long enough to make a difference defensively.
Boxing out, following shots, etc seem to be very lacking and noticeable
What is with the slow starts? Can't shoot well (talent), bad warm-ups, nerves? All the above?
I was surprised we got blown out (I mean blown out) at home against Kansas. I know we don't have nearly the talent. Question: while other coaches are coaching all out, standing and yelling, Johnny is sitting, then he'll get up, clap his hands together a few times. It seems like the refs know he won't get fired up so they walk all over him. Just an observation.

They have to shoot better. Under 40% is not good. Even if they shot in the mid 40s it would be good. Their defense is good and they outrebounded Arizona so that was a good sign. Arizona State upcoming would be a nice win.
I was definitely surprised that Kansas blew us out by 51 points. The only change in that game, was Sellers coming back. Could've messed up the rhythm a lil bit.
I think the basketball team is doing fine. Johnny has gotten us some nice wins and brought in some good players through the portal. We have/had injuries to our two most dynamic players and lost to two blue bloods in conference. I don't see the sky falling.
Hopefully we make the dance, if not we certainly make the NIT and make a run there.
