Can UCF play back into the postseason conversation? I think they would have to make a big run in the Big12 conference tourny. That's a no brainer. Win and in, I think.
But, near impossible as UCF will be on the bottom seed and will have to play extra game, then get matched up with a top ranked team. Not impossible, but unlikely.

The NIT is a possibility as well. It looks like 8 Big12 teams are getting into the NCAA and UCF is sitting around #12 in conference. Maybe they can move up with winning the rest of the games and winning a couple in the conf tourny.

After some googlin', I saw this opportunity in Las Vegas. Team selection is from those who do not get into post season play.

Only way to make NCAA is to win the conference tourny. So, saying 'no way' is inaccurate. Maybe very extreme low odds would be better. :p

NIT is a possibility I guess, but that College Basketball Crown tourny might be interesting. I hope they do have some post season games.

Can UCF go on a winning streak and play themselves into post season play? (odds are slim to none for NCAA). (slight maybe for NIT) (strong possibility for College Basketball Crown tourny).

But, gotta win. That 7 game losing streak really put a damper on the season. Maybe they can crawl out of that win. Currently a two game winning streak!

Just speculating, I have no idea what will happen.

"The College Basketball Crown, a 16-team men's postseason tournament, will take place from March 31 to April 6 in Las Vegas and will air on FOX and FS1.

The tournament will feature schools from the Big Ten, Big 12 and Big East, in addition to at-large participants. Teams that did not participate for the NCAA Tournament will be eligible for the event, with two automatic qualifiers coming from each participating conference, and additional teams chosen by a select committee."

IMO if they get 20 wins they r in the big dance. Tough to do as it requires at least 2 Big 12tourney wins n have a big run now But it will be real difficult to leave out a 20 win big 12 team.

grabbed this. Not looking too good. 68 teams to the NCAA, NIT takes 32 teams. UCF bubble watch...gotta win these last two. But, I'd take that vegas post season tourny if offered. Maybe next year!

4 big 12 teams for a guess in that vegas tourny...that's the benefit of being in a bigger conference right there.

Also, some storied programs listed. I hope that happens.

I really hope UCF wins the Big12 Tourny coming up...but...yeah right, that is very unlikely. I'd be happy with a first round miracle win though and a good showing in post season.

Otherwise...when does football season start?

“Advantage”…get a grip Dave, absolutely nobody cares about that crap (Crown). No money, no exposure and it’s an indicator of a trash basketball program to accept playing there.

The talk of expanding March Madness is so ridiculous..68 teams when you include the First 4. any other tournament is just rewarding mediocrity.

Lobocane, surely you can see there is an advantage to being in a bigger conference in contrast to a weaker one. Get a grip yourself. UCF is still in the conversation with a poor record this season, whereas, if still in the AAC, they wouldn't be. Keep on trying to troll. You making yourself look stoopid.

Let me break down your comments:

"get a grip Dave". I'm very sane and very stable person. Semi-Retired, not a care in the world other than if the surf is up, or what chores I gotta do....Having a conversation about the possibility of your favorite sport's team post season play should not need to 'get a grip'....I am very not unique in that regard hoping for their team makes the playoffs, a tourny, win, succeed, or even lose, but at least make a showing.

"absolutely nobody cares" YOU obviously do with responding to this post. That makes YOU a nobody.

"No money, no exposure " It's on Fox Sports. AND in Las Vegas. WTF? No money, no exposure? Go back to troll school with that nonsense.

"an indicator of a trash basketball program". Look who is projected to be in tourny. Indiana, Cinci, Iowa, 'Nova, etc. Uh, you might want to do some googling on those team's past 'trash' basketball programs. Another strike out for you.

Your past few post have been targeting me and I'm curious on why is that the case. What is your motive on that? If you need me since you miss AuburnMalzhanTroll so much, then I'm here for you. What else you got?

If UCF was still in the ACC we would be not in any consideration for post season with the current record. 7 game losing streaks do that!

Thus, take any post season play as a gift for being in a bigger conference. The schedule is better and win or lose you get an advantage.

well we likely wouldn't have 7Ls playing an AAC schedule.

really.....who cares at this point?
Yes, pointing out that it appears the tournament is probably going to have mostly teams with losing records from any of the big conferences. Kansas State has already said no thanks to consolation tournaments.

Viva Las Vegas!

Who cares? Just enjoy the game or grace of the basketball gawds, games (plural)...

:p :p :p

I really don't understand why a school would turn down any post season play. I read some articles on why the other schools made the decision to opt out of the NIT. I still don't understand why?!? Lets ask the athletes if they want to continue playing? I'm sure 90 percent would say yes. Just guessing though. The fans probably 75 percent say yes.

I'd rather see UCF play at least one more game rather than none. UCF wasn't a Big Dance worthy team, but they did have some good wins and were entertaining games. The above just wants to axe the team completely off. That kind of thinking is neggie nancy one.

This probably stems from me being 1 of 50 people attending UCF basketball games in 1985. My next door neighbor was on the team. I know how much players like to play.

And, let me ask any player if they rather stay home on the couch OR go hang out in a Las Vegas Hotel and be pampered in this 'Crown's' Tournament.

Indiana basketball declines to play in NIT & College Basketball Crown

Hey, Indiana basketball players...would you rather stay in Indiana (where the fug is that?!?) or go to Las Vegas strip and play some more?

For the people who don't care at this point...Don't watch then! Ignore this thread or any other one about UCF basketball. :p

Is this one of those tournaments that winds up being a net negative financially for the school?
No. I’ve read on X that all expenses are paid by FOX. Nothing paid for by the school.

Logistically, the big hurdle is the portal. CBB portal opens up March 24th I believe. This tournament starts on the 31st.

Why would a school turn down a paid for boondoggle to Las Vegas?

What's going on in Morgantown end of the month? Nothing.

Lame decision to turn down post season play. I'd be pissed if I was a player on a team that turned it down. I'd be like uh...do I have a decision to play? Plush Vegas hotel vs Morgantown dorm room. hmmm...who makes these decisions? I'd like to hear their reasoning to turn it down.

Its a tournament that half the field either had losing seasons or finished around .500. It's something, but it also kind of CBB version of the Mid December Tuesday 2:30pm bowl game that gets 5k in the stands.

As pointed out the 3/24 portal opening is going to make this interesting, could have teams having to mash together lineups.

We played in CIB before. That was bottom of the barrel. When you rarely make the good one, The Bahamas Bowl equivalent is fun. Hopefully we won’t be praying to get into this one after this year.
