UCF hopes to contain high-octane Florida Atlantic offense. Tuesday, 7pm

That was a great effort by the Knights against FAU. The Owls came ready to play, but UCF wasn’t having any of it tonight. And we’re doing this without Jaylin Sellers or Mikey Williams in the lineup. Too early to tell how far we’ll go, but for now, we’re 3-0.
The question is whether our Bigs can compete in the B12....at the start of the game FAU forced the ball down low and we couldn't stop them. That's 3 games in a row where our starters were behind by double digits before Johnny started substituting and we came back. Of the 2 Frosh starting centers, theirs scored double digits and ours scored -0- points....yes that's right -0- points (and 3 rebounds total)...the C position will be our challenge to being competitive in the B12 and Moustapha had better get better in a hurry! And we need to start the game with a competitive lineup to not risk getting blown out early by some of the better teams.

Our big man is only 17 years old. I see great upside in his game. The big 12 is so much stronger and Physical so that will be needed. Great win tonight. It’s good that our team won in several different fashions and adopted to each game to win. Good job Johnny.
Yep, and there's no time to waste to get him up to speed......conference season starts at the end of Dec and, in Jan, we've got #1 KS twice plus 3 other current top 10 teams. It's an unbelievably difficult first full month and will test our guys and Johnny to the max. If we can help Moustapha with some grown men who can defend the paint and not be afraid to use up their fouls, we'd be better off. I was hoping Johnny would get Hulswe some playing time, but he wasn't dressed out last night. So, until Moustapha matures, Johnny will probably play a smaller lineup and there will be nights we get pushed around. Let's hope we can continue to adapt as the competition gets tougher.

FAU was playing 2 excellent bigs and our guys found defensive holes in which to score. That says a lot.

he's a freshman. Hopefully he can get on board quickly
Hopefully. I’m sure he will.

In the meantime, I wouldn’t mind seeing him come off the bench and gain a little momentum/confidence against other teams’ second units. Benny Williams doesn’t have Thiam’s length, but he seems plenty strong enough (with enough verticality) to play a small-ball five position.
