Last year’s class at Army had one 3 star player. The rest were either 2 star or No star players. The service academies recruit with one arm tied behind their backs due to high admission standards and a looming 5 year service commitment which scares top players away.
They don’t redshirt any players allowing OL/DL men an extra year to gain 20-30 lbs of muscle or benefit from the transfer portal. If anything, they lose players transferring regularly because of the rigors at the academies. They have to identify underrated talent and develop them. Despite these limitations, they compete and at times beat storied programs. I would love to see what Monken could have done at UCF.
