It will most likely come down to the game at Tulane in one week: (Top 5 get 1st round byes)

Tulane's remaining schedule:

at Temple
UCF
at SMU

AAC gave UCF a late bye this weekend so UCF is off till next Thursday March 3rd at Tulane and then at Tulsa on March 6th.

I like where we are going into the late games. If we gain one we get a bye, if not we open with USF. Odds are we don't win tournie, so and extra win vs USF on the way there may be what would lock up an NIT bid.
Obviously no guarantee on any win on a neutral court...even vs cow u...as it will be their "Super Bowl" to knock us out of the tourney.

cow u's best game all year was their home blowout win vs UCF back in Jan.

NOTE: UCF was 13-3 at home this year while just 4-6 on the road.

I said last year I thought we could be in the top 4 this year, so hoping to win our last 2 and accomplish that. Really, there are only 2 games this year we lost that I thought we should have won. The home game against Temple and at USF. If we win those, we're sitting at 19-7 overall and 11-5 in conference, which would be top 3 and a legit shot at the tourney. I have no idea what happened in those games, but I also don't know what happened to Isaiah Adams this year. I really thought he was going to be a dominant player in this league.

Oh well, let's finish strong and make a run in the NIT.

So many great points.

I think the only way to punch your ticket to NIT is to win conference regular season and not making the NCAAs. If quite a few of the lesser conferences have upsets it will be harder to get NIT. Wondering if we win out and get to AAC Championship Game that would get us in NCAA?

After Memphis beat Temple last night...here is how the race looks for the final 2 bye spots (#4 and #5):

After Memphis's win over Temple...here is the latest:

I think it's only the Top 4 get Byes. Or did something change?

I almost rather finish 6th than 5th. 6th would see most likely #2 seed in the Semi's vs 5th vs 1st in the Semi's

Top 5 get byes...and then the 3 1st round winners are added to the Quaterfinal bracket. (Remember, AAC is an 11 team hoop conf).

Ugh I forgot UConn left. So glad they did. Their fans were weird AF.

That really changes things. UCFirst round bye is big. If 5th didn't have a bye I would rather be 6th.

Looking at Tulane & Temple's schedule. I could see us losing to Tulane can basically dashing our hopes for UCFifth

Not really sure sitting this team in a first round bye helps. Unless we are waiting on injuries.

PHILADELPHIA – The Tulane University men’s basketball team (12-13) dropped a hard-fought 75-70 decision to the Temple University Owls (16-10) Sunday afternoon inside The Liacouras Center.
With the loss, the Green Wave falls to 9-7 in the American, while the Owls moved to 9-6 in league play.

With tonight's loss to tulane it is still possible. But...only one game to go, tulsa, and Marc
Daniels said wichita state needs to win or lose. couldn't hear exactly what he said. But if stay at 6 seed gotta win 4 straight games in conf tourny. Ain't happening.

We have to win at Tulsa, and Tulane would have to lose their last game (@SMU), then UCF would be the five seed. Winning on the road seems to be impossible at the moment. It’s a lost season…

Marc Daniels just went thru the 3 things that must happen for UCF to win a tiebreaker to be the 5th seed and earn a first round bye:

1) UCF has to beat Tulsa
2) SMU has to beat Tulane in Dallas
3) and now, ECU has to win at Wichita State

Why the last part?

Tiebreaker, if 2 teams split the season series (like UCF did with Tulane), next step is vs common opponents and Tulane swept Wichita State while UCF split vs Wichita State.

Strange...but it might be a tall order for ECU to win in Wichita so it looks like UCF will probably play on opening day Thursday if the above 3 scenarios do not happen.
