It looked like a "light bulb" went off for Adonys...as he played like the best shooter on the court and was finally aggressively looking for his shot.
In too many recent conf games...Adonys was passive...wasn't looking for his shot...wasn't working hard coming off screens, etc...
No doubt his 6 three pointers were impressive...maybe the best "light bulb" highlight was his strong drive to the hoop where he made contact and should have had a chance for a 3 pt play.
In conf play, Adonys is averaging 6.9 3 pt shot attempts per game...and just 2.3 shot attempts from inside the arc.
I think Adonys might benefit the most (maybe even more than McBride) from off-season strength/conditioning...as with his frame, he can add more muscle...which will help him inside driving the lane, and just as important, become a better rebounder.
Adonys, best FT shooter on the team (87% in conf play) didn't get to the FT line...something he has to do...but much of that has to do with UCF getting the ball down low much earlier in the game...getting opposing team in the bonus...so even ticky tack fouls can get someone like Adonys on the line...let alone more fouls caused by Adonys if he has more confidence to drive the lane. (NOTE: Did you know that the 2nd best FT on the team in conf play is McBride who is shooting 85% from the FT line? FEED HIM THE BALL!! McBride also has to set up deeper in the box so he can have option of going straight to the hoop, even without dribbling. He had a nice left hand move again last night).
Goodwin has to improve his control of the ball...as he had another 6 turnover game (had a bad night shooting too: 3-12, 1-5 from downtown).
Will be interesting next year to see if Donnie moves BJ to the point...and/or if incoming 6' 4" PG Chance McSpadden can start at the point and/or earn up to 20 mins per game with BJ at the 2...as McSpadden's height can help a lot on defense...and be more of a offensive threat (and hopefully better FT shooting)...as it hurts when your PG only shoots 60% from the FT line.
As mentioned prior to the season...UCF has/had a strange conf schedule...as UCF has completed their series with SMU, Temple & UCONN...but still haven't played one game vs bottom dwellers ECU and USF (plus still have a game vs Houston remaining).
