Except for transferring to a QB that was 'not a good passer' So exactly a great example of a bad transfer experience...
Lol…athletic? Not at all. Very strong yes, but his movement is limited. He missed the 2023 season rehabbing a knee surgery.
Good news…started 11/12 games. Bad news…the Washington OL was terrible in 2025, gave up ten sacks to Oregon.
saw a comment that he didn’t give up a sack so maybe it was the other side getting abused by the Oregon DLine
Listen I’m all for the Frost hire… but sheesh this portal cycle was a must for us. We haven’t gotten crap. This team will go 3-9 next year with a realistic (non UCF goggles) outlook

There are limitations in the transfer portal when the motivation for some is the highest bidder.
Texas Tech will either win the Big 12 or it will be a disaster and a lot of money spent. Unless that Crypto guy shareholder starts personally investing massive amounts UCF we won’t be in the same neighborhood. We have to recruit and develop out of HS.

As much as I love College Athletics, and in particular football, things seem to have gotten way out of proportion. And, yeah I know I am going to get a lot of kickback for posting this about compensation but among the many things student athletes receive, aren’t free tuition, free room and board, free tutors and counselors, along with a number of other perks all of which are a form of compensation? On the one hand people complain about how much a college education costs and how many students are deeply in debt when they graduate. On the other hand, we then say student athletes who are getting a free ride and more aren’t being compensated. Some people may believe they aren’t being compensated enough but they are being compensated. Perhaps the discussion should have more emphasis placed on the question of why did a student athlete enroll in school in the first place. Did they enroll to get a good education or did they come to school to play ball in the minor leagues for the pros. If the system is set up so that a student just comes to school to play in the minor leagues for the pros then perhaps a case could be made that, under those conditions, athletics no longer belong in Higher Education.

I think we will eventually see them drop the "student athlete" charade entirely, at least for football. NIL didn't just make it possible for the average college football player to be able to afford a pizza, which used to be the argument for some form of compensation. It immediately transformed into pay-for-play and some of these guys are becoming millionaires just for stepping on the field. They don't have to do a car commercial or hope for a percentage of jersey sales in the school bookstore -- they're professional athletes. Once they end the prohibition against the university paying the athletes directly and dissolve these straw-man NIL collectives, it's all over. They will just be employees, or at the very least independent contractors.
I think the problem with the "recruit and develop" is that if "University X" recruits & develops; then "University Y" simply pays that recruit to now come to their school. Not sure how to fix that as it seems baked into this mess.
They need to set up a minor league system for football and basketball. The fact that Dartmouth and Northwestern can litigate this thing to control the athletics to be paid is ridiculous. They get paid by the education that is funded by the universities. Nobody is forcing them to take this avenue.The universities need to lessen the tuition for the average student and put the money that they make for Athletics into that. This is an athletic/student ordeal. The athletes are using the universities for monetary gain, as well as using the venue to exhibit their talents. The university gives these athletes a free education and a venue to exhibit their talents. That should be enough. The coaches should be paid less and tuition for the average student should be lessened. It’s ridiculous the way athletics, which is supposed to be a secondary activity for students, is being utilized. Most of these athletes would not get to the next level if they were not showcased by the venues provided by the universities. If they wanna make money, they should go to the basketball minor leagues-and they should set up a football minor leagues.
People are going to support the uniform name that is on the shirt. We’ve gone way beyond the universities having control and the students being active participants in a secondary activity that is part of the university. The activity of the athletics should be part of the university they should not run the university.

Agreed, no one is recruiting these students to go to school. Coaches just need them to be eligible to play, they and the fans want those players putting in 50-60 hours/week focused on football. What they do in the classroom is completely meaningless except for not being eligible to play if they don't pass.
College sports 30-40 years ago wasn't a business. Universities wasn't making a profit, it was an activity. College Sports now is 100% a business, a lucrative one at that. Fans/Alumni/tv contracts are throwing thousands/millions to the school, not to watch athletes excel in the classroom.
If Daniel Obarski was the valedictorian and went on to change the world, fans would just talk about how much he sucked at kicking and cost the team games.
Well put. I don't know athletes in FB and BB have to go to class at all. They have become a university side show. I agree, the NFL and NBA need to establish full-time developmental leagues for these athletes and the students and U. can just pay to see them like they do the NBA and NFL. Our entire nation has become,, "nothing more than a business venture", look who will be in power come Jan.
People talk about Tosh and he didn’t play sports. TI was on our team and people only care about his music. If you are well known people talk about you. Our former kicker that wasn’t very good is a popular YouTuber. Most don’t know he went to UCF.
