UCF vs Wisconsin. 5pm. CBS Sports Network

I missed the game but just looked at my “Keys to the Game”:
1) 72% from the FT line
2) 29% from 3pt

I would expect them to win or be right in any game with those stats and they were. Choke, though, being up 15 at half. Team needs to learn how to put teams away. We were up big on Tenn Tech as well and almost let them back in the game.

My man Keyshawn “Kids in the “ Hall showing out again with a double-double.

Basketball is a game of runs. They had theirs in the late second half. Our bigs played better though

Hall had a couple of terrible turnovers at the end of regulation. Putting his head down going one on two, left his feet with no one to pass to, live ball turnovers that led to fast break opportunities the other way. One of which allowed LSU to tie the game.

Not really sure why JJ Taylor only played 7 minutes in a 3 OT game, but Coleman played 41 minutes!??? Coleman took some awful shots down the stretch, air balling two consecutive three-point attempts (one from the left corner, one off the dribble early in the shot-clock from the right-wing).

I agree, Hall would be much more effective if he passed the ball. The opponents know he doesn't (or they soon will) and are happy to have him go 1 on 2 (or 3). And Johnny seems to be stuck on a starting lineup. They play a majority of the game, but some are just not good players. Coleman has had one good game (out of the 6 we've played). Otherwise, he's been mediocre at best, bad at worst. But Johnny's stuck on the fact that he came to us from an ACC school. And don't get me started on Thiam...he's just not ready to start in the B12 Conference. The kid has a lot of growing up to play college ball at any level, let alone in the B12. So we have guys like JJ Taylor (he's had more good games off the bench then Coleman has starting) and Jocius (he was one of the primary catalysts to building a 20-point lead against LSU and then sat the bench most of the 2nd half and in OT) being underused. It's going to be another year where Johnny's substitution patterns are a head scratcher and now its cost us a game that we should have won.

Jocius and Nils are liabilities on defense. You have to play zone when they are in and their close out time to shooter isn’t quick so leads to open 3s. Thiam is learning on the job. We don’t have a better option. He will get better. Sellers will make us a bit better when he comes back. Not sure about Mikey. Even though he’s more popular in internet.

Here we go again, SOS, Dawkins sucks, always has. UCF deserves to be losers, which they are, for keeping this knucklehead as coach. Last year they started winning 10 against Lipscomb (Div 2), Jax, Stetson, UNC Charlotte, Maine, FL A&M, BCC, Cal St. Fullerton, SD St. and FIU. They have ZERO HS recruits for 2025 and 2026 and one prayer for 2027. I would show up at the next game and demand that Dawkins be fired!
Dawkins couldn't win consistently in the AAC so it would make sense that he won't do better in the Big12.

Jocius is a better option, right now, at the 5....he's as good a defender as Thiam is and much better as a 5 offensively. Bring Thiam off the bench to learn how to play college basketball. And coach him up! The kid got called for a personal foul on the opening tip against Wisconsin! That's ridiculous. If he listens, he'll learn. If not, we won't have wasted a starting C position. Nils is a bench contributor.

Jocius is not better. 20 minutes he had 4 pts and 1 rebound. If Darius doesn’t have this great shooting game, it would have been a loss. They owned under both baskets with Thiam out. Jocius was lost and overmatched.

Jocius had 10 points, 5 reb and 2 assists against LSU (a better team than Milwaukee) in 21 minutes....he deserves to continue to start. What I was most disappointed with was the play of Hall. We need to get Sellers back and the ball out of Hall's hands. Multiple times Jocius was open on a pick and roll and Hall (and others) failed to get him the ball. Instead, they drove out of control into multiple defenders missed badly then complained to the refs about a no call. It's time Johhny sits some of his so-called star players down and reminds them to share the ball and that assists are as important to the team as points.

1 rebound against Milwaukee in 20 minutes. If they weren’t passing and not making shots, why didn’t he get rebounds? He doesn’t know how to position himself and box out. Product of Euro ball where bigs play along perimeter. Box out and you get rebounds and easy put backs.

Thiam has bigtime talent n to not expect growing pains is unreasonable. People need to be patient with him. He is best potential recruit UCF ever got imo.
Jocius is what he is Fundamental tough kid (Played in Philly college) Get 15 minutes of tough minutes out of him but u can’t rely on him to change a game
