UCF's 22 point spread vs. USF

In retrospect it seems like free money, but it was a rivalry game and you never can be sure. For almost 3 quarters this UCF squad was in a game against Stanford who turned out to be a top-5 team. After the Furman game, the whole team seemed to be looking for a reason to give up every game. There was a chance that a rivalry game could have caused these guys to regroup, reenergize, and give 100%... as it turned out they folded and called it a day midway through the 1st quarter, but hindsight is 20/20.

True on the rivalry game note, but when I saw that spread, and the points USF had thrown up on their prior opponents, I knew there was blood in the water and they smelled it. Our guys just stopped caring and if they don't care about not getting waxed by some of the worst teams in the country, I never saw how they could save face against a team that wanted to embarrass them.
