Pretty amazing for a country with no electricity, huh chemmie?

Granted, we'd likely shoot these down before they get anywhere near the US, but this is a major threat to the rest of Asia.

"North Korea has deployed its new road-mobile KN-08 intercontinental ballistic missile and is capable of mounting a miniaturized nuclear warhead on it, the U.S.'s top homeland security commander said.

"Our assessment is that they have the ability to put a nuclear weapon on a KN-08 and shoot it at the homeland," Admiral William Gortney, the head of the U.S. Northern Command, told reporters Tuesday at the Pentagon."

Nuclear ICBMs

I wouldn't be so sure about our ability to shoot them down, tests haven't been that reassuring.

Technically, S Korea still is, meaning we are de facto still at war as well.

Correct. Despite the American military based inside S Korea, the North Koreans have still sunk their ships, fired upon their territory, run sabotage campaigns, and conducted ballistic missile tests nearby.

They are a country which runs entirely off hatred of the US and authoritarian military control. There's nothing else going on in N Korea but that.

Eh. As someone who used to do this, they've gotten a lot better. I can't speak for the most recent tests, but one I was involved in back in 2012 hit 5 of 5 IIRC, with three different defense systems too. Keep in mind these tests only use a few assets where if a real threat was coming, THAAD and others would be deploying probably dozens of kill vehicles vs only two during a test.

So between NK launch vehicle failure and dozens of kill chances on our end, we'd be alright.

Of course marino thinks Kim Jong Un actually runs the country.

Par for the course with marino.

Of course it's not likely, but even the possibility of these nuts having a nuclear ICBM is noteworthy. Like I said, it's a much bigger threat to the rest of Asia but I'm sure to the US military leaders who are paid to watch this stuff, it's a significant development in N Korea's capabilities.

PS- this is why Israel is terrified of Iran having any nuclear capability. If a shithole like N Korea can develop nuclear ICBMs, then a country flush with oil and better scientists like Iran can do it even faster.

I mean, it is only Hawaii and/or Alaska, after all.

so you are convinced that people will use nukes because they HATE another group of people or another ideology so much that they are willing to die for it?

This may be true for the grunts, but not the leaders that never go near the front lines...they dont hate that much...there is a reason osama bin laden was not on a plane...dying for your cause is for the peons...

The second they get their hands on an EMP weapon via black-market purchase? You should be...

I love the people that say "it'll never happen..."

After viewing many of the positions of uncertainty these similar individuals state, how can you be so confident in defense or the actions/intent of another nation when you know absolutely nothing...

Is it a religious crutch? I don't get it. It's such a common dismissal..."Oh, come on, look at these chumps! They ain't got didly and would NEVER attack the USA. They aren't that dumb!!!"

Yes, DPRK is arguably the world's largest death cult. The Juche philosophy reads basically "If we go down, we all go down together" in their "constitution".

When you have that driving an entire nation, you should at least be wary. Especially when you have one that blames all their ills on the USA and won't make changes to reduce sanctions on humanitarian aide.

Apparently you've missed the fact that N Korea has purposely kept their country out of the 21st century all so they can run a system called Juche, amass a massive military, and raise people to believe that the US is evil and the only thing preventing the South from finally surrendering and reunifying under N Korean leadership.

Kim Jong Un is a puppet. The reality is that the country is run by fanatical, uncompromising military leaders that are increasingly tired of the US presence in S Korea. And these leaders truly view the US as the most evil country/entity in the world, since they think we have S Korea under our "control".

You're forgetting about GMD, Aegis, and Patriot. Although these systems are less capable or shorter range than THAAD.

When is Martin Marietta going to make a missile defense weapon worth a shit? Maybe if their employees spent less time posting on message boards and more time working...

Martin Marietta, LOL. And yeah, LockMart sucks. But they write great proposals so the government keeps wasting money on them.

lulz. I'm not worried at all.

I'm just pointing out that you were utterly wrong, again, and thought that maybe, just once, you'd be man enough to admit it. But apparently not.

This is what you do- you make some dumbass statement, and when it's confirmed that you're wrong, you jump to a strawman such as "You're paranoid!" instead of just owning how wrong you were.

He's just poking fun at Obama's stupid statements. What did he say that was incorrect? You don't think that NPRK is a potential threat that we need to monitor?

Its depressing that I have to spell this out to you, but it is actually possible to worry about both DPRK and climate change at the same time. I hope this did not blow your mind too badly.

It's not possible for our President. Between being Al Gore, Al Sharpton and golfing he really doesn't have much time to worry about foreign affairs.

It's more depressing that you can't get the sentiment of the post that it's a matter of prioritizing the threats and their relevance.

Thanks for the always entertaining, but never factually correct post, Fox News Bob.

Damn you're dumb. I'm fairly certain the super power known as the United States of America is capable of focusing on more than one problem at once.
