WBB: Messer Can’t Outrecruit Big South High Point

She was a bad hire. Our coach brought all of the good players to UGA. Messer didn’t bring any players I don’t believe. She’s old and a career assistant. Not 1 good player wanted to play for her. I don’t really care about women’s sports but would be nice to be respectable.
they also loss by 19 to UNLV who aren't very good and to Montana State.
Coach Abe isn't doing too good at UGA either. That was a horrible move for her and for us. She'll probably be fired because if they're bad enough to lose to Hampton at home then losing every SEC game is a possibility. She's like Scott Frost great at UCF sucked at the next stop, maybe we'll hire her back next season.

Yeah our best player was out but they trailed the whole game and High Point is not a good team. There should be depth enough to beat them easily.
I was hopeful when they brought on Messer and wasn't expecting anything early on because the cupboard was bare but she's been terrible.

Missed today's game but looks like it was ugly. Granted TCU's really good this year but losing by 40 is brutal.
I’m going to out on a limb here and say Coach Messer may be next on the chopping block.
Baseball hire looks good. First year away from Lovelady and we made a regional. Won the first game too. Can’t complain about that.
Yeah, we beat Alabama and Stetson in the Regional, but we’ve got to get to a Super Regional. That’s something baseball has never done before. We’ve been to lots of Regionals.
UCF leading scorer Peterson missed her 2nd straight game and UCF's starting center, Gusters, wasn't even in the building. (Maybe excused absence).
Of course former Assoc HC Mike Carey is no longer with the program either so things have hit a definite rough patch these last few weeks.
They wouldn’t have made a difference. Lost 2 games in November too. Montana St and UNLV. Looking like bottom 3 in Big 12. Probably bottom.
this team would be bottom of the AAC too. she can't recruit and that was suppose to be her strong suit. rodriguez is a good recruit, but you need alot more like her, not just once in a while. when assistants gets labeled as strong recruiters we tend to forget what people are saying is they can close on their head coaches' targets. when everyone is chasing the same top players (like her time at baylor) then it's about who does the best sales work. when you're chasing players outside of the very top it's about talent ID and she and her staff clearly suck at it.
She was at LSU. They’ve been better the last 2 years than when she was there. She definitely can’t recruit like the LSU HC.
yeah i know she was there for 2 years, but her big recruiting wins were from her 7 years with baylor (mulkey was the HC then too).
This is only her second full season....

so year 1 was a half season? she sucked in the AAC and sucks in the big 12. the only reason it stops there is because that's the only conferences we've been in while she's head coach.

In case you missed it, there has been no indication that she has the chops to be successful at a Big 12 level. In fact, empirical evidence would suggest her stock is trending down.
Empirical evidence? heh, ok. I woulda gone with "results have suggested" myself...
UCF isn't going to fire a coach after 2.5 bad seasons. She's going to get at least another year whether we/the "empirical researchers" like it or not.

This is her third season. 2022-2023 was her first year. Understandably they weren't very good in year 1 since Coach Abe took everyone with a pulse to Georgia. However they are just bad now. Also we fired Coach Maurer after 1 bad season so I'd be shocked if Coach Messer survives
Maurer didn’t do great last year either. Better than this past season but still not good. I’d be surprised if Messer wasn’t let go after this year as well. Terry is looking bad with his hires the last 3 seasons besides baseball.
