We have a new LB coach…

I think he was coaching LBs at usf and was the interim DC against us in 2021.

Just confirmed the above is true, and he was the interim DC this year after Scott was fired along with the DC.

Started coaching in 2018 with Kiffin.

Could be a great connect for recruiting lb’s being an ex nfl player with a good career. Is this his frist year coaching?
No...he has been a cow u for 3 years (2 years in different roles at FAU before that).

He is a FSU legend (All-American) and had a solid NFL Career.

He also took over cow u DC spot when that dude got fired.

This is also a BIG get to bring back cow u LB Grier...who looked like he was following TWill to Arkansas...but now UCF has a great shot to bring him here.

Do you have some inside knowledge on this or just hoping new coach can?

Getting a new LB coach who can recruit local talent will be big for us both in the transfer portal and with future recruiting. Wouldn't it be great to get 3 highly rated LBs next recruiting cycle?

If you look up Grier on social media...he seems to have deleted all references to Arkansas and instead seems to LOVE UCF.

Now I know this might be a good hire for recruiting, but the pessimist side in me looks at it as we just hired a guy who was a prominent figure on one of the worst defenses in college football

Sims was the LB Coach...he was not the DB or DL Coach for full-time DC.

Grier was a 2-time All-AAC 2nd Team LB.

In his last full season...he had 92 tackles...10 tackles for a loss and 2 INTs.

Very good players can be found on bad teams.

Meanwhile...he is a young coach with an incredible background (especially in the State of FL)...and Gus seems to have a knack at finding HUNGRY young coaches who also excelled as players.

PS. One of the most common knocks by FIWs on past UCF Coaching staffs was the lack of YOUNG hungry coaches...and/or those without any ties to this state...well, Gus has eliminated both of those concerns with many of his hires.

Majority of their defensive woes were due to lack of talent and recruiting. Grier and Boyles were the only good players on defense for them and they were LBs. This is a good hire to me, I wouldn’t want any of the other coaches besides their ST coach maybe. Found him highly annoying as the Interim HC but he has had their unit performing really good while there.

He never posted anything Arkansas on his Twitter account so there was nothing to delete. Arkansas announced it on their Football account

Was thinking this too when I heard the news but really didn't think it had any legs....until I noticed Grier hasn't posted one Arkansas-related post and still has our stuff up. Maybe he thinking about it and Arkansas pulled the trigger too soon. We'll see but this definitely doesn't seem too far fetched anymore.

Hey, if we can get crazy with rumors, watch Boyles announce his entry into the Portal next week. 😆

Grier has updated his Twitter profile. Removed the UCF commitment picture. No clear affiliation in it now.

Most JR HS Educated adults know that for transfers do not sign NLI's so their commitments are nonbinding till they actually official enroll at the start of the Spring Semester in January.

Sorry you are not one of this exclusive group.
But ... But ... But... He said he signed. Sue Pig

He did not sign a NLI...only thing he might of signed at Arkansas was a non-binding financial aid commitment form he woukd receive IF he shows up for the 1st day of class in January.

Same reason sokboi last year went to UCLA (signed same financial form) but was able to then jump to Oklahoma since UCLA classes hadn't started yet.

Spend less time trolling and learn the difference between what HS recruits sign (National Letter of Intent) and what transfers sign.

And everyone announced miami as #3 class… until yall lose 3 of the first 4
You can post all you want, the last thing Grier wants is to play for Simms. He already quit on that man this year. Grier also removed his UCF commitment post. So what do you expect little baby?
