What are UCF admins doing to put Butts In Seats Thanksgiving day?

Surely they realize that millions of people will be tuning in Thanksgiving night. Also, I'm sure they are aware that hardly anyone is going due to Thanksgiving AND losing season. With that said, I haven't seen any promotions, giveaways, or anything from UCF. Are they awake? Since O'leary has left it seems the whole UCF sports admin dept has shut down. There wasn't even a UCF Coach show aired on Sunday like usual. Have they just completely 100 percent have given up or what?

They need to start advertising an open gate event. Anyone who shows up gets in for free. Also, advertise discount merchandise since it is last game of the year. But, who am I. I'm just an engineer and not a marketing person.

These are the same people that schedule the Home Opener on Thursday of Labor Day weekend before the guarantee of a network picking it up. Don't expect much effort from them

its not the "UCF admins" job to make everything free just so you feel better about how it looks on TV...a game no one will watch nor give the slightest of fcuks about.

even if it was an open gate event (dumb)...you arent fooling anyone that actually matters.

This was the worst home schedule in recent memory. No P5 opponent. 3 Thursday night games, including one major family holiday and the season home opener. Loss to a FCS team. Blowout losses to UCONN and Houston that were essentially decided by halftime. Hopefully the new hire will re-energize the fan base and we don't lose too many season ticket holders.

They need to quit with their P5 aspirations or drop back to FCS for football only and collect more money for additional cabana spots.*

Well, maybe not free, but better give some incentive for people to break away from family to go see ugly football played. Maybe advertise in Tampa and get duh*bull fans to buy a ticket. But, regardless it appears the UCF Athletics admins (whoever they are) have also given up on the season. They are all probably too busy updating their resumes'.

You know that GOL's son is in charge of game day football operations? I'm sure he's working on some ideas

Honestly, if they announced an open gate policy I'd be there to cheer on the Knights for sure; heck, even if they don't announce an open gate policy i seriously doubt they'd turn me away if i just showed up.

They're are some good ideas in here for UCF to really give paying ticket holders the finger. Knowing them they probably will give away tickets for free.

UCF: "we're moving the most valuable game on the schedule to thanksgiving night"

Ticket Holders: "Umm, that's pretty lame, wish we knew that before we bought tickets, I guess we can always try to sell them if we can't go"

UCF: "And we're going to give out tickets to it for free"

Ticket Holders: "Then why did I buy tickets?"

UCF: "Ha ha, **** you, we already got your money!"

You play games when and where you can get on TV. It's always about exposure and paydays. Saturday was probably going to be ESPN 3 (the Ocho). You may not have liked it but the game did end up being televised. Turkey day will be lightly attended because we suck, and not just because it is turkey day. For my family, we just moved turkey day dinner to friday. It's life. Adapt or die.

My family and I will be there because we bought tix before the season started. I think it would be great if somehow UCF fans could pack the stadium for the Rivalry game. This would show the admin, players, future coaching staff and the college football world that the fan base is in full support of GOL being gone and we are eager to rally behind the Program moving forward!!!

We got ESPN turkey night TV and the sports section of Tampa and Orlando media. It could be worse.

I don't have any problem with moving games for tv when it makes sense. Moving a game to thanksgiving night is not going to get anymore exposure then noon on Black Friday. No one is going to give 2 shits about 2 bad Florida teams playing each other when the NFL is on at the same time.

I like the way UCFMike thinks! It got a certain bar in Orlando great publicity and even an ESPN article.

So, I guess instead of great exposure...UCF admins are okay with being exposed (yes, using an Oleary quote).

Open up the gates and let anyone who shows up in for free. Another O'leary quote: "An empty seat never bought a hot dog."

Also, an empty seat looks horrible on National Prime Time TV.

UCF has to provide some sort of incentive to show up for this game. Unless, of course, like I'm expecting, they just gave up...

Man I totally agree I hate that they give us a deadline to re-new and than they change the schedule around after.

Winning gets butts

It wouldn't be the first time UCF did something along these lines with good intentions without considering second and third order effects

I could see UCF having a "college night" for both the Thursday Night game vs ECU and for the one on Thanksgiving Night....allowing anyone with a college ID to attend the game for free.

UCF could possibly offer up 5,000 passes at the ECU Game for 1 admission tix to the Thanksgiving Night Game too.

Offer reduced priced tickets, bring in a couple of DJs and keep BHN stadium open until close to 2am.*

Truly bring the Black Friday experience to UCF? Get the big box stores to bring trailers full of goods and set up storefronts on the memory mall. After the game, the field can be used for a swap-meet, you could even earn a bit of extra holiday cash by unloading the high quality UCF coolers, chairs and tents you purchased at Costco before this season ! Maybe the BestBuy folks could even show the game on at least 1 of their HD TV displays*

2-0 on Black Friday and we move off that date to expose ourselves. Karma.
