I'm arguing with some guy who says UCF is a commuter school and it's ticking me a bit off.

How many bed does UCF TOTAL, off and campus? I tried looking and can't find what I'm looking for. Thx

there are some fans of other schools that think if your University is located near a city with more than 2 major roads it is commuter, very lazy and outdated. All those students from South Florida aren’t ‘commuting’ from their apartment less than 2 miles from campus.

UCF isn’t commuter but apparently the nightlife isn’t as good as it used to be.

Then you have privately held single family homes , duplexes and town homes specifically purchased for student housing. I owm a house that is currently occupied by 3 UCF students north of campus off of Lockwood. These kind of properties are difficult to track.

Yeah a lot of people from South Florida. Plus when I was there , people from multiple states were my neighbors and roommates too. Even in 90s there was a lot of people that weren’t living at home and going to school.

That label is so friggin old. It's probably the same folks that call us the Golden Knights.
Or C. Florida.

A commuter school is determined mainly by how many students attend the main campus daily. We have more incoming freshman living on campus than most D2 schools have total students. As for D1 schools, we have more students attending our main campus than they have total students. UCF has nearly 70K students and just shy of 10K are grad students. We need to pump that number up too! More graduate students means more in grants, etc. Campus affiliated housing is about 12-13K and non-campus affiliated housing in the area is high as well but tough to determine since they are not designated for UCF students only and can be for Valencia or non-students as well.

Don't get bogged down with how many attend a satellite campus vs main or looking at where we were 40 years ago. At this point, we are a major school. The average age of our alumni base is about 40. We are still in the process of putting our stamp on the world.

I did a quick comparison between bed rates/enrollment between UF and UCF and UCF had a higher rate than UF.

We aren't a CS but many Big 12 fans apparently still think we are.

Texas Tech has like over 50% of their students on campus. Crazy.

A lot of students not captured in the numbers, but realistically count, live immediately off campus or in close proximity at one of the numerous mega apartment complexes too. Just a reality of being an urban campus.

All State Schools in Florida have more students that live off campus and are not part of affiliated housing and commute to school. 100%/All of us. UCF has the most On Campus and Affiliated Housing in the State of Florida.

1. It's a troll move to be derogatory. They win if you let them get to you.
2. Most students at state schools (in Florida) live off campus. So we are all commuter schools.
3. Who the hell cares what a stranger from another school has to think about a subject they don't want to understand.

most of these original Big12 teams are located in complete dump towns.

I’ve said if before over the years that UCF has built a ‘best of both’ environment. mix of urban and collegiate, even a bit rural if you want. The lifestyle during Spring Semester is way better than Waco and Ames.
