I saw this while watching the Cubs' game last night and knew it was going to be a thing. Sure 'nuff, it is. Cubs now investigating.

A little bit of both. He did the sign behind a black guy so he can punch him. Also to prove Cubs fans are D watchers.

Chicago is literally the scum of the earth. Like a war zone in some areas and you have racist liberals all over the place.

Don't worry @NinjaKnight , I got you covered:

holy fuking shit, you guy are actual pathetic, racist moron pieces of trash defending white supremacists.

PS inbred and redhat
LOL. I see nothing has changed. He has got to be the nastiest, most narcissistic, most disrespectful human being I've ever encountered. He could give two sh!ts about any other individual due to his superiority. I feel badly for him. However, I have determined that he is absolutely, positively THE smartest person to have ever walked the face of this earth.

There's a pattern with his posting. Other than not being a good human... has he said how obsessed you are with him yet? Is he still trying to reply to people that have him on ignore? Has he blamed your posts on his perception that you can't refute his logic? Has he whipped out his virtual crayons for you yet? Has he called you his bitch yet? Has he started resurrecting old irrelevant posts when you piss him off yet?

If you put him on ignore, the WC gets noticeably better.

lmfao I haven't even posted in this thread, yet you are STILL talking about me. Goddamn dude, how obsessed can you be? What did I do to earn this obsession? I don't even know what I did, but goddamn it must have left a mark.

Bingo

Can you imagine claiming that you have someone on ignore, and then doing nothing but talk about that person? :joy::joy::joy:

Holy shit fab you have some serious issues man. I have no idea what I did to you, but damn it must have hurt your snowflake feelings if you can't stop talking about me :joy:

You could give me 100 chances and I could not tell you what that sign means. Who knows stuff like that?

Annnnd, the Cubs have concluded that this fan was giving a racist sign and he is trespassed from Wrigley.

Maybe I'm out of the loop. I've never heard of this sign. Basketball players do it all the time.

Because of the responses in the thread, out of curiousity I unignored you.

Honestly, you didn't do anything to me personally and you didn't hurt my feelings.

I have you on ignore because I don't like your posts so I choose not to see them. Your posts are nasty, judgmental, narcissistic, extremely disrespectful, self-righteous and hateful. Based on your posts, I find you to be a truly despicable person. Based on the fact that you indicated you look down on your co-workers because of your supposed inherent superior intellect and based on the fact that you'd love to tell them how stupid they are, I believe your posts characterize you perfectly.

Excuse me if I don't have this 100% correct, my memory isn't quite as good as it used to be. But because I was able to get a couple of other posters jobs, years ago, when you were in school and you said you were looking for a job, I looked and found a couple temporary jobs that you might be interested in but neither were practical for you at the time. I think it was because they were out of state or something. Looking back at that, it makes me wonder why I would even attempt to do something nice for someone who wouldn't ever appreciate it or would only look down on his coworkers. You're a messed up person.

I will admit to being out of the loop here. I never knew it was a racist gesture, and never knew it was part of a game.

It started out as a troll and then white supremacists started actually using it including the NZ shooter after he was apprehended and the white nationalist proud boys. To me, if it's actually being used by white nationalists then it's a white nationalist symbol.

There was once an admission that this individual detests his coworkers and often used this board to degrade them. One of the said reasons for detesting coworkers was for being religious in nature.

Is that what it was? I remember him posting about how he hates his co-workers. I thought it was because he thought they were stupid.

The dude at the game was screwing around. He should get punched in the arm Because he made the symbol above his waist.

lol good lord what a whiny post. You basically don't like my posts because they offend you.

Sorry man, I'm having a lot of trouble trying to feel sorry for your feelings right now. Yeah, I'm an asshole, you know what? Literally everyone on here is an asshole. Your post describes just about everyone on here, with one exception, they aren't right.

I asked you a long time ago (coincidentally right before you "ignored" me) if you could back up your claim that I posted something wrong. You claimed I did it "all the time". I asked for one example. One example of me posting something that was factually wrong and I'd shut up. You couldn't do it (had to get ready for a basketball game lol). It's obvious to everyone this is why you all picked me out, you hate being proved wrong.

Nevermind. I should have know this was nothing but a hoax that woke AF folks have fallen for hook, line, and sinker. Congrats, 4chan. You win.

https://www.adl.org/blog/how-the-ok-symbol-became-a-popular-trolling-gesture

Last week I had a conversation with someone on the concept of communication and we started talking about Huxley. I was looking for some Huxley audio and oddly enough I just happened to watch this video yesterday. Although it's talking about words I think it applies since they're symbols used to convey meaning just as gestures are.

I would have liked something more in depth but there's enough here to raise obvious questions with regard to this OK sign gesture.

1. It clearly doesn't fit the paradigm mold since it obviously not something everyone agrees with. To what extent should everyone should be aware of the dual meaning? This "made you look" gesture had massive popularity within the last year.

2. Communication involves sender meaning and audience meaning. When these things conflict who gets to decide meaning/intent?

3. This particular gesture is fascinating to me since it started as a troll. It is widely accepted that language is living and can grow and change depending on use. Well wheres the tipping point where words/symbols/gestures etc can be hijacked?

Wouldn’t you say the “made you look” gesture has been popular for a lot longer than a year? We’ve been playing this game since the 1990s in high school. I have friends in the military who play a very rowdy version of this, too.

As to the second point, if someone comes out and says “this is what I meant” and the other side doesn’t believe it or promotes something else that suits a narrative, finding meaning and intent becomes tricky. It works both ways.

.

Can confirm it was popular in the military bigly about 2 years ago, not exactly PG-13 rated either

Yea it's been big for a long ass time. I'm saying it found new energy over the last year on IG memes and such. A whole next generation is now keen to it.
