My wife and I travel to Europe once or twice a year and have never considered getting international comprehensive travel and medical insurance. We’re going to South Africa later this month and the tour company we’re using strongly suggests purchasing a policy before the trip. Does our insurance policy not cover us while we’re there? I checked with my company, UHC, and their safe trip policy can’t be purchased if you’re from Florida. I have the Amex Business Platinum card and I see they sell a policy for about $900 for the two of us that covers just about everything.
