Would you pay $50 to see Batman v Superman (other new releases) today at your home?

You must live alone. Wife sees you watching movie and remembers something "she has to tell you" or has shit for you to do. Kids won't shut up just because they are your kids
Someone else already counting down the months til they're 18 I see. (I keed I keed)

Well, I live with my wife and usually she's watching the movie too. I married a girl who doesn't nag during shows and doesn't complain when I go MIA during football season.

I wonder how much longer the current movie - distributor - theater model will stick around. Netflix is already producing and releasing their own movies directly onto Netflix instead of going into theaters. If they have budget to produce TV series with 9-10 hours they can surely get films budgeted. In a way they're already eating into the movie market by bringing out all of these series; Jessica Jones probably would have been a movie years ago, while now it's a really good series on Netflix.

But a 9-10 hour series means more usage/value to Netflix than a 90-120 min. movie. The ROI for a series is simply better for them.

Not necessarily. Netflix just wants shows that get people to subscribe. Everything I've seen suggests that they have a really good retention rate once someone has subscribed as a customer. If getting rights to the biggest movies in the future equals more people subscribing to the service, then that's what they're going for. It's part of their product mix.

Plus, Netflix is targeting international expansion the most right now. The easiest way for them to get foreigners to sign up is to offer movies that they go to see in theaters in their own countries. Instead of having to make tons of country-specific series shows.

You bet I would!!!! I have a 120" 3D DLP projector setup with 7.1 audio and motorized leather recliners. Two movie tickets for the wife and I plus popcorn and soda is almost $40. Pay $10 more to be able to not have to deal with dumbasses like the cop in Spring Hill that shot the guy at the movie theater for not turning off his phone seems like a no brainer to me.

Plus, I'm not a cheap bastard like chemmie.

That was Wesley Chapel/Pasco County. Bunch of white trash down there.

The bigger the projector, the smaller the pecker.

Apopka, more dollar stores per square mile than anywhere in Central Florida.

Movies are much more expensive these days, so I'm extremely choosey when I do go. I like the theater experience for certain "event" sound and special effects driven films. Sometimes the theater is the best way to see certain movies. But I'd rather go experience BvS at the theater rather than paying $50 to rent it for two nights. I'm surprised that filmmakers like Spielberg are endorsing this, because it opens up tons of piracy windows

My kids said the movie kinda sacked. Easy decision on watching it now.

Ok...bad headline as the reviews are in...and it seems that some think that movie wasn't worth $5, let alone $50.

If I am spending $50 I want 3d and vibrating seats.. I want the best in cheap thrills for my buck.
