OT: New 48,000 sq ft Athletic Facility proposed at this FL School

If you guessed at a college, you were wrong.

If you guessed at a HS, you were right.

If you guessed a Private Orlando HS...you were dead-on.

The new 48,000 SF Multisport Athletic Facility and Field Renovation at the Lake Highland Athletic Complex will house a gymnasium, a wrestling center, an archery range, and support facilities like a sports medicine center, locker rooms, a film room, golf simulator, coaches office, and a hospitality suite.

WOT: Men’s Fashion

I’ve been following this guy online (seems to be pretty popular) who does deep dives on men’s fashion, and it is fascinating. At someone with no skill in this area, I bought a suit last night and used some of his methods to help pick the best fit. We’ve got a month until football and I figure there are some fashionistas in here that would probably add value to the dungeon on “dos and don’ts”

REPORT: Can UCF bounce back against rival Cincinnati?

There are still many unknowns about the ability to play this game based on Hurricane Milton, however the UCF Knights are trying to stay prepared and focused.

Head Coach Gus Malzahn and players know that they will have to bring a better effort than they have recently if they want to beat conference rival Cincinnati.

Check it out here ... from the Sons of UCF.

I am still confident in this UCF football team

There is doubt.
There is blame to go around.
There is cause for the concern.

I am still confident that UCF will get back on track. The Knights are 3-2, 1-1 in conference play. Did Saturday hurt from a pride perspective? Yes, it did. But it is in the rearview mirror now and most every realistic goal the Knights have for the season is still in front of them.

Cincinnati is coming to town for 3:30 pm kick. I hate the game time. But it is what it is. UCF's back is against the wall and this is a 'playoff-type' must-win BIG-12 elimination game. In fact, every conference game from this point on is a 'playoff-type' must-win game!

I expect the UCF defense to carry the momentum of the second half of the Florida game into this contest and play with the same high level of intensity. The defense really shined and came together as a unit.

I want and expect a UCF win. And if any of you don't like that, you can kindly EAD and GFY! Next few weeks will be fun.

OT: Fireworks & Drone Show as Tropicana is imploded for A's new stadium

Ballys agreed on a land deal with the A's that will tear down the old Tropicana Hotel and the A's will build the smallest ballpark in MLB: 30,000 - 35,000 seat retractable dome (but with a ton of high roller seating...which most of the casinos/resorts will gobble up as season tickets for their top clients).

Clock Management Woes

What's the cause of Gus's bumbles in this area and will it ever improve?

"The true turning point, however, might have come moments earlier. Harvey extended the possession with a 3-yard gain, giving the Knights first-and-goal from the 10 with 1:06 left on the clock. On first down, Jefferson evaded pressure and scrambled for a 1-yard gain, but the Knights wasted 49 seconds in between those two snaps before Malzahn burned his final timeout of the half.

UCF tried to substitute personnel ahead of second-and-goal, allowing TCU the same opportunity at its own pace.

"Every time we subbed, it took forever for them to get off the field. They jogged in, barely," Malzahn said. "That's on me. We should have got points, at least three. … That wasn't the best clock management."

Athletic: "Super League" of 80 schools in the drawing stages

Stewart Mandel and Andrew Marchand:

One league overseeing college football’s highest level. No more conferences as we’ve known them. Playoff berths being decided solely on the field. Promotion and relegation for smaller schools. Players being paid directly. NIL and the transfer portal, managed.

A group of influential leaders wants to make all this happen soon — and they are pitching it as the best way forward for a sport they believe needs saving.

Several college presidents, Roger Goodell’s primary lieutenant at the NFL and some of sports’ top executives have devised a plan — dubbed by outsiders as a “Super League” — to completely transform college football, those involved in the group “College Sports Tomorrow” told The Athletic. Although the plan has drawn skepticism from within the sport’s current institutions, the people behind the ideas believe they must be implemented.

“The current model for governing and managing college athletics is dead,” Syracuse chancellor Kent Syverud told The Athletic during an interview.

West Virginia president Gordon Gee added, “We are in an existential crisis.”

Syverud and Gee are part of CST, a 20-person group which also includes the NFL’s No. 2 executive Brian Rolapp, Philadelphia 76ers owner David Blitzer and lead organizer Len Perna of TurnkeyZRG, the search firm that places nearly all the top conference commissioners, including recently the Big Ten’s Tony Petitti.

Basketball within a month. What is your expectation for the season?

Of course, we have to see what we've got from our team first this season.

But right now, I expect us to make the NCAA Tournament this season.

This team is more talented than last season. I am really excited to see what Darius Johnson can improve this season.

Also anther question: Do you see any of our team make the NBA Draft 2025? I really hope so.

The Obviousness of the Truth: Not Helping Matters

I still remember 2016, from countless games to the screaming to bench Milton during the 2016 bowl. Then the article that came out during the 2017 run about how Milton almost transferred out and how Frost shared his similar experiences at Nebraska when he was well disliked for leaving the state, only to return.

This should be obvious, but it's sad it's not.

It's not helping matters that we're now giving the players plenty of opportunity to see us as a whinny, disloyal fanbase. I'm even seeing people threatening to withhold their paultry $25/mo NIL funding, and using the fact that players are paid, even if the majority are very poorly, to criticize. Oh yeah, that'll help. Talk about 'piling it on' them!

UCF Football is not a 'product' you buy as a 'consumer' fan. "Oh, 2 losses in 2024... I'm out."

And if you think firing coaches with $12M+ buyouts just 2 years into the P4 will build the program better, then we have far, far more examples of it ensuring it will be worse, than better. UCF is a desired location because of loyalty by the booster, ensuring a coach has time to build his system. And... it ensures our kids know who is going to be at the head of the team too.

Even Prime had lavish praise for Gus as a man, and even the Auburn fans who wanted him fired felt the same... and many (not all, but far more... especially as the current coach is throwing kids under-the-bus) now regret him being fired too. That says a lot to me. To have a coach that, regardless of his play calling or results, everyone has very high praise for the man and how he approaches everything in dealing with parents and their kids.

So even if you want to pony up $12M+ to fire Gus now, this message many are sending here it NOT helpful with the kids, let alone future prospects.

We have 7 games left, and a key recruiting season. Showing up, keeping your commitments going, and supporting the kids is more important than ever!

But I guess I'm an idiot for not complaining, yelling and screaming at these losers, and their 'loser energy,' right? *

Sigh... society makes me wonder sometimes, in how we're so keen to 'tear people down,' instead of 'building them up.'

I guess I wish our fanbase could be a role model when we lose too, instead of before (hope) or when we (actually) win... we'd get a lot more, top recruits if we did. And yes, it's more than just NIL people!

And that also starts with the type of man our coach is too.
