OT: Question for the older folks - something I’ve always wondered

I’ve always been curious. Did people at the time know the village people were making these gay anthems or were they just the quirky guys who dressed up?

they were big at the time right? It wasn’t like revisionist that people listen to them now right?

I’m genuinely curious bc they have songs about being a hot cop and going to fire island but I know it was a different time.

Also - I’d love context about ‘in the navy’ - it’s such an earnest song and seems so random. I know there’s an obvious joke about a bunch of men on a ship but was there more to it? (My dad was a navy guy and iirc we have a submarine guy on here, trust me I’m not making a dig here)

Anyway would appreciate any observations here. I think they’re such an interesting band and I’ve always wondered how they were received at the time they came out (unsure if pun intended thus the post)

OT: #1 Wisconsin RB "taking a leave away from the team" after 4th game

Former Clemson player who has been at Wisconsin for the last 4 years seems to be setting up a "medical" redshirt year to transfer once more.

It seems he is setting up for a 7th year of College Football:
2019: Year 1: 12 games at Clemson
2020: Covid Free Season at Clemson 9 games
2021: Year 2: 9 games at Wisconsin
2022: Year 3: 9 games at Wisconsin
2023: Redshirt: 4 games
2024: 4 games...stepping away for an undisclosed medical reason...could apply for Medical Redshirt

Not many players who are out for just a few weeks suddenly taking leave from a team the team during their short rehab but that is how the spin is coming out of Madison, WI right now.

Is there a less clutch coach in America?

Seriously.

Opportunity to host college game day with a win at ECU? Get blown out.

Opportunity to clinch hosting a conference title game with a win against a terrible Navy team? Get beat at home.

Bailed out by the CFP committee and a chance to make the NY6 with a win at Tulane? Blown out again.

Up by 4 TDs in our B12 home opener? One of the worst collapses I’ve ever seen.

Pull off a miracle at TCU, everything lined up for a special season with a down UF team in the non-con and a wide open B12 with no obviously dominant team. Big Noon Kickoff on campus, stacked stadium, tons of recruits and an opportunity to make a major statement on national television? Get embarrassed.

Seriously it’s so hard to watch. I so badly want to be on board with Gus, but he just finds new and inventive ways to stomp on my balls. It’s like he’s purposely edging us just to let us down in the most brutal fashion imaginable

MUST READ: Just a Little Disgusted with the Gus Bus

"I'm tired of feeling like absolute shit after a Malzahn loss. Fight. Compete. Stop with the lip service... Gus has made this his life's work... He was outclassed, outwitted, and outplayed"

How does this resonate with you?

[OT] Cert 2: ULA Vulcan-Centuar and Blue Origin BE-4 Perform ... NGC GEM 63XL Go Ugly Early

Since there are already several, prior threads (wasn't sure which to pick). E.g.,
I'll start this new one for the Vulcan Cert #2 mission ...

To be honest, I though with Sierra Nevada, now Sierra Space, pushing the Dream Chaser launch back, the 2nd launch was also pushed back. I didn't realized they went ahead and launched an inert payload today.

Given ULA + Blue Origin BE-4 engine central are basically my homes now, and I know other Knights are here, it was great to see the full success of those solutions, especially given a Northrop-Grumman SRB (GEM 63XL) went ugly, early, about 38-39 seconds in, and then took another half-minute post-planned, nominal separation to actually separate.

I hear the BE-4 tests all-the-time here at Redstone-Marshall, whether they are made locally, or in Seattle in the past. It echos like a SoB, especialy with overcast, and even my wife can hear it at times much farther away. Just glad to see the US has more, domestic options for the national security directive, and is well away from using Russian engines for the future.
