I've noted people complaining about Gus having at least 4 losses in many years. That literally smacks of just about every fanbase that is suffering with under 0.500 coaches, because they kept firing 9-4 coaches! I can name more than I have fingers right now! Even several 'blue blood' programs!
I'm more than willing to take 4 losses a year ... if it means we have a breakout season every 3rd or 4th or even 5th! I hope this team goes into Texas Tech and wins, and Houston is looking very viable for a 7-5 season, maybe 8-5 in the bowl. But even if not ...
I predicted a 3-6 record in the Big XII, and put an asterisk on Boise, saying we'd go 5-7 overall if we lost, 6-6 if we won at Boise. I'm looking pretty good on my expectations right now. In fact, I didn't expect to have 'as competitive' of a team as we've had.
In 2013, the cardiac kids could have been 7-5. But we won 4 close games, and ended up 11-1. This year, we ended up blowing 4 (out of 5) conference games. Only Kansas was a butt kicking of 4+ opponent scores to start the game.
So ... again ... 4 losses in many years in the SEC is ... bad? Sigh ... everyone wants Saban. Heck, even Dabo is having issues. It happens people! So ... sign me up for sub-10 win, but winning, seasons for the next 4 out of 5 ... especially if we only have 4 losses.
Chill! Give Gus until 2025 before screaming for his head. Could we find someone better? Sure! Could we find someone a lot worse? Oh heck yeah! Far more so! And I'm sorry ... I like Darin's playcalling. I just do. For every 1 time it seems bonehead, there are 3-4 that succeed brilliantly.
The statistics don't lie.
