Name UCF's next head coach

Just for fun. Post the name of who you think will be UCF's head coach. Expand on it or don't. We'll revisit this and see who is right.

I don't think anybody ever guessed Frost. I think maybe one guy brought up Heupel during that search process. Gus Malzahn was always considered a frontrunner (if he wanted it) so that one wasn't a shock.

Hypothetical: Giving Tuesday, What would you do?

With giving Tuesday tomorrow - you have a commitment you are able to make this year and can choose to donate to UCF.

How would you split that up if at all?

As the donor you can choose from any number of initiatives

Athletics: such as- general NIL earmarks, Football Excellence, Basketball Excellence, Baseball, Women’s sports, a specific capital project or generally give it to Terry to decide where he “needs” it most among the programs.

Academic - first generation scholars, or something else.

Or even just your “school” of choice within the school.

Tell me UCF fans - what would you do? Why?

Did DC Addison Williams do enough to stay on staff in 2025? (And what others deserve to come back?)

AW took over the defense prior to the Arizona game and here is how the defense performed:

Game 1: Arizona: Held them to 251 total yds...got 1 turnover...held offense to 2 TDs (special teams had 1 missed PAT and one missed 2 pat conversion). Was helped by 600 plus yd performance by UCF offense that scored more than 50 pts. PFF 72.7

Game 2: Arizona State: Held a very good ASU to 21 offensive pts (ASU also scored on block punt and INT return). ASU had only 260 total yds but no turnovers. PFF 67.7

Game 3: West Virginia: Gave up 31 pts but only 318 total yds. No turnovers. PFF 73.3

Game 4: Utah: Held them to 14 offensive pts (Utah defense scored on 2 INT returns). Held Utah to 196 total yards No turnovers. (Don't think PFF has been posted)

While only ASU was a ranked team...there were some obvious different schemes AW used that Roof did not.

AW is known as a Top 2-3 recruiter on the staff (hence why he was kept on after he was demoted after last season) so it would be interesting to see what the next HC will do in regards to keeping AW on staff.

Would AW stay if he was a DB Coach again?

Would the new HC want him as a DC?

What say you...did AW do enough to earn a spot on the 2025 staff and what other coaches would you like to stay? (Even knowing most new HCs clean house...maybe leaving 1 or 2 coaches in place).

Predict UCF's 2025 Regular Season Record (prior to HC hire)

We obviously do not know that staff make up or even full roster make up on next year's squad but the good news is...all 3 non-conf games will be at home while UCF will face 5 conf road games.

Schedule is:

Week 1: Thursday, Aug 28th: JACKSONVILLE STATE

Week 2: Saturday, Sept 6th: NORTH CAROLINA AT&T

Week 3: Most likely a conf game

Week 4: Saturday Sept 20th: NORTH CAROLINA

5 conf road games (no dates known):
at Baylor
at BYU
at Cincinnati
at Kansas State
at Texas Tech

4 conf home games:
HOUSTON
OKLAHOMA STATE
KANSAS
WVU

Will UCF's Marching Knights ever travel to another regular season game?

Years ago when UCF played many games in the Southeast, it seems the Marching Knights were always traveling to away games particularly those in the SEC and games at Georgia Tech. I think the Marching Knights might have also traveled to Penn State in 2002 or 2004 (correct me if I'm wrong) and maybe one of the Virginia Tech games.

In the AAC era, the band would seem to travel usf games only and road games at FAU/FIU, if those were on the schedule.

With usf no longer on the schedule, will the band ever travel again? I'd be curious to hear from those connected to the MKs.

Obviously it's a huge expense when the games are too far for a bus trip.

According to Matt Murschel, 15 players have jumped into the portal since the Utah game.

Naming anyone from the existing staff as HC makes the clean-up of this mess very, very difficult. Repeating my earlier post, the only thing that makes sense in order to have a competitive team in the near future is to bring in a new HC who has a great record, reputation, recruits and assistants who will join him. It's the only move now that is acceptable. Otherwise, Terry has to go....remember, he hired Gus, extended him and is responsible for overseeing this mess.

Where does UCF fit in the P4 landscape for job opportunity

What are the top 5 most important factors a coach looks for?
Where does UCF stack up as to potential jobs overall (not just what is available now)?

IMO Factors Post NIL/Portal

1. Resources - Money
2. Conference affiliation
3. Possibility for success
4. Booster Interference
5. Location

I think at the moment until more is known about revenue sharing and where the portal is going we are somewhere in the lower 1/4 of programs. That is a long way from where we were even 10 years ago. It think there is nothing wrong with identifying as a stepping stone position for the moment. I think if we keep up with the revenue sharing we will quickly be able to use more of our other non-traditional marketing

"The Bridge" 22 min segment link on UCF Coaching situation.

Link should start right at the 11:40 mark. (Interesting the Producer labeled The Bridge today: "Florida will be a top 15 team next year", which was about a 2 min segment...and not the main topic of UCF Coaching situation.

I guess we know whoever is the Producer is a huge UF Fan.

Heartbreaking day for UCF fans to lose such a popular patriarch as Gus

My heart goes out for you guys. To have the greatest coach in your history ripped away by a bitter rival is gut wrenching. It seems like Free Shoes U always takes what it wants. While it is a sad day for UCF, but cause for celebration for FSU, which will ANNIHILATE the 'u' for the next 2 or 3 years straight. Sucks to be bozo.
