Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Cardinal Gibbons quarterback
Dylan Rizk couldn't stop smiling when talking about Bounce House Weekend and his UCF official visit.
"It was real fun," Rizk said. "Actually, it was one of the best visits. I came here Friday and nonstop I loved it. It was real fun. They had a beach set up for a photo shoot. It was real cool. Real fun."
Rizk's journey to UCF in some ways started one year ago. He attended a prospect camp in early June and received an offer that day. He eventually committed, doing so this past April.
"Last year I was here on a camp date," Rizk said. "I was doing a bunch of camps, doing my thing, and got the offer which was awesome. Now I'm here at the same time and I'm committed which is awesome. I can't believe it. It's really a blessing. It's a dream come true.
"I've always been a big fan of UCF. I've loved UCF since I was a little kid. It's a dream come true coming here. It's awesome.
He already has forged a special relationship with his future position coach, offensive coordinator
Chip Lindsey.
"Coach Chip Lindsey, I knew him when he was at Troy University. He offered me over there and came over here, so that was really lucky for me."
The weekend featured several competitions, pitting recruits and coaches against each other. Rizk said Lindsey doesn't mess around.
"We went to TopGolf," Rizk said. "Coach Chip is probably the most competitive guy I know, whether it was playing card games or golf. He beat me in everything. But it was really fun. I can't explain how much fun I had."
There were several eating competitions on Saturday. That's not necessarily Rizk's strong suit, though he did pull off an impressive Oreo maneuver.
"We were supposed to do a scavenger hunt, but it was raining," Rizk said. "We ended up doing some awesome fun stuff in the indoor like dodgeball and eating challenges. I tried eating the watermelon, but that's something I'm not good at. I put an Oreo on my forehead and I had to eat it without using my hands. Everybody got hyped. It was really fun."
His player host for the weekend was fellow quarterback
John Rhys Plumlee.
"He's a really awesome guy," Rizk said. "We talked about personal stuff and football. We went to a bowling alley and an arcade. I met some of his friends. I talked to him about his transition here. I'm trying to enroll early also and I know he came in January, so how it was for him adapting in 3-4 months. He said it was the best transition he's had.
"I met all the quarterbacks,
Thomas (Castellanos) and
Mikey (Keene). All really nice guys. I can't wait. It's gonna be a great quarterback room. Real good genuine guys, which is awesome."
All six of the early 2023 commitments visited this weekend as did a few other top targets.
"I built some relationships with players I didn't have a relationship with," Rizk said. "I already knew some guys like
Jayvontay (Conner). I know the defensive end from Lakewood (
Isaiah Nixon). We beat him. I built relationships with some of the kids who aren't committed. I'm definitely going to be in contact with a lot of them trying to get them here. It was an overall great weekend."
Rizk will look to repeat as a state champion later this fall before enrolling in January. 2023 is expected to be UCF's first season as a member of the Big 12.
"I can't wait," Rizk said. "I see such a bright future with this program. I think everybody sees that too. You can feel the vibe when you walk in here. Everyone is just so ready. Big things are gonna happen here. Everyone can see it and feel it."
