2022 Transfer Needs

All OL unless Jackson is coming back. I’m curious if Ed Collins is going to regain a starting spot.

I will also say we are losing alot of WRs between graduation and transferring

Need 2-3 TEs, 2-3 DTs, 2 LBs, 2 OL, and 1 QB.

RB is definitely stacked.

WR is solid too with Amari Jackson, Dionte Marks, Jordan Johnson, Titus, etc. returning.

DB could use help too as long as the lines are beefed up first.

My take would be the following positions.
OL
TE
DL
DE
LB.
With the signing of Boomer our kicking game should be fine.

QB: 2 (1 with experience and 1 young guy with high potential)
TE: 1 (or if Gatewood 0)
OL: 2
DL: 1
LB: 1
K: 1
Don't see Gus using a scholarship on a kicker. Gus has a great Personal Walkon Kicker from Lake Mary coming in.

If any kicker transfers...it woukd probably be as a walk on...just like the kid from Appy State last year.

I didn't say scholarship......just transfer so we can have more options. Also wouldn't mind an Australian punter.

Our LB room is damn near empty right now. You have to think any stud unsigned HS LB or portal guys would be excited to have an opportunity for immediate playing time.

This is very disappointing...got to be a problem with our DC and his LB's. Get the problem fixed Gus. You can't lose top defenders like this.
I can't imagine players being disappointed with T Williams as their DC. The guy is a motivator with plenty of aggressive play calling including stunts and blitzes.

We will be fine...Tatum came on late. The scheme TWILL plays is great for any young linebacker. I think we will be ok. We can fit another in this role. Tate was undersized at this position. He was a great fill in though. I believe this is best actually. This way we get a good young kid and mold him into that position. This helps us for our future in Big. Maybe next year not so much but 2023 we will be better. I think Tayr saw the writing on the wall. Next year he might of not been used as much

Bethune came on late?

He is undersized?

Did you watch the last 2 seasons of UCF football?

TWill is light-years beyond Shannon's D. It's amazing that Shannon still has all this draw, he really must be an amazing mentor for a lot these kids. His results are average. But we'll need help quickly. I love Baptiste but he doesn't cover ground like Tatum could.

This is nonsense lol. He did not come on late(?), and he is not undersized.

If he doesn’t want to be here, fine. Wish him the best and move on. But no need to re-write any narratives.

I do understand what you’re trying to say though, about getting some reps this upcoming season to younger LB’s in order to be stronger for 2023 in the Big 12 (rather than breaking in a brand new Mike LB in a new conference). That’s about the only positive to spin here.

He is undersized compared to SEC and other conferences.. Note I never said he was bad...he is about 5 11...listed at 6 ft. And he was put in position by T Will system. Understand I didn't day he sucked. But he was undersized. Imagine Bowser running at him 6 1 225 plus over and over. The system can make a player if it puts him in position.

A lot of players were in position over the years, but sucked at tackling.

Also note he was put in that position because of how thin we were. He made the best of it.. I am a fan of his. I am also not fans truck to acknowledge his shortcomings. He was great for us no doubt. But next guy up..Just like he was next guy up.

UCF was not thin at LB to start the season in 2021, that is just not correct. You keep stating that Bethune was “put in that situation” like UCF had no other options and he was next man up. Bethune beat out a senior (three-year starter) in Gilyard. Remember, the defensive base is a 4-2-5. They played the majority of their snaps with just two LB’s on the field, and they had Gilyard, Bethune, JeanBaptiste, Armstrong, and Mosier to work with. That’s not thin, it just seemed that way when Gilyard left unexpectedly and the staff was wrongly experimenting with Armstrong at nickel.

T-Will didn’t manufacture his production because of the system, Bethune made just as many plays per snap in 2019/2020. The only difference is he got very few snaps behind Evans, Gilyard etc, and this year he rose to the top. Kid is a player.

By thin I mean we do not have enough athletes behind our 1st starters...Bigger teams have depth and size even at 3rd string. Our guys are players no doubt but to think we have depth like power 5 teams is wrong. We are thin and have been for a while now.

Do we have any chance at Mohamoud Diabate? He was Florida’s leading tackler last year, transitioning from end to outside LB. He’s from Alabama, was heavily recruited by Malzahn and Travis Williams…could easily walk into a Big Kat role for us next season.

Needs to be target #1 now (IMO).

Even in the B12, the team is not going to have depth like most SEC teams.

Pat J 6 1 237
Eric M 6 2. 238
Shaq Grif 6 2. 229
Mont Logan 6 0 237
Nate Evans 6 1. 242
Cheq Burk 6 2 230
Shannon Burg B 6 2 226
Excuse me.but we had size and speed in 2017...
Part Gol Part Frost...
See the size difference compared to now.

Yeah you young guys just watching now. I want u to look in past see what made UCF strong.....
We are thin at linebacker since then.
Randy went for speed instead of size.
We are paying for it now.
Those laughing this guy doesn't know..
I ask u look at the past not just a few games...
I am a fan from over 10years not just now.
Probably a lot more than that, but I won't say hehe..

I guess with every day that passes by without landing big time transfers, it becomes evident that we may not be the transfer destination we thought we would be. We have playing time available at a number of positions on a pretty good team to start with.

Only a couple of weeks to get guys in the door for Spring.

I want you guys to see...We had bigger guys at our beginning yet we preserved. UCF always stayed strong. Many young guys have given up. They think they know all. ALL I can say is young guys you haven't seen any thing yet.. We old guys have lived through all..Hehe Our guys were bigger but slower. You young guys ain't shit.hehe..

A lot of the slow big guys aren't looking to play on a defense that is on the field for 40 minutes a game.

Pat j would be laughing at u while he tackles your slow Ass..Just cause u say hehe...Not really..

What “big” Linebackers do you believe UCF is going to get? Enlighten me please.
Did I say we were going to get LB. That size.. Hehe.. seems you guys need to wash your ears out. I just posted about a guy being undersized and proved my point. I hope we get bigger guys..Yall guys are the ones trying to prove your points without answering why you think your guy is so special. Let coach get bigger guys. We need them for Big 12...Yet some of u believe guys we have are the best.

The transfer portal is turning out to be like sandlot football player selection. You pick your players before the game starts. This has made for a very active January on this board when it normally is crickets.
