It's the friggin RNC where Secret Service are in charge of EVERYTHING.
This was Bastille Day, aka our July 4th. Do you think we possess the security to assure this does not happen at just one of the thousands of gatherings for people watching fireworks? Hint: we don't.
Do you honestly believe the security concerns are comparable at these 2 events?
If you think a 4 foot temporary concrete wall would be effective. Imagine what a 40 foot wall could do.
How many events were held in France on Bastille day?This wasn't a 1 in a thousand event and the country is under high alert.
Do you think there were only a handful of significant Independence Day events in Florida? France has 3 times the population. There were a handful in Orlando alone.
Comparing those to one of the largest in France is beyond silly. Especially when they were under high alert and had experienced several terror attacks in the last year.
Do you think it would be easy to drive a truck through a crowd of 5,000 at Lake Eola and kill 80 people? There were events of this size all over France. Any one of them could have been targeted. If security was too high at one, go to another. It would be impossible to secure each location as you propose.
MAC believes that France is the size of Luxembourg and roughly has 2 major cities with a maximum of 10 events going on at a single time.
There were a lot more than 5,000 on that Nice, France beach and closed BLVD for the Bastille Day Fireworks.
Believe Fireworks celebration in Altamonte and Orlando each draw over 100,000...and sadly, it would probably be a lot easier to do more damage at Altamone event because of parking lots/roads basically right there...while Lake Eola is so spread out, plus tons of trees close/near the lakegront.

Just went to my first Gun and Knife show in Melbourne yesterday. Had a great time and learned a lot. Wife and I are going to range next wed with a co worker of hers, who is a certified trainer who works with sherriff's office.
