By Keeping UCF out of the Top 4, CFP Just Made the Case for an 8 Team Playoff

Over the last few weeks we've seen CFP officials have 2 loss teams jump us while other times we would only rise one spot after blowout wins. The goal? To keep us out of the top 6 in the event of a doomsday scenario.

By keeping us at 8, and especially after Milton's injury, they were expecting us to lose against Memphis and be a non-factor. But of course that didn't happen!

Now we're solidly in the top 8 after 2 undefeated seasons. Regardless of whether we win that NY6 game, DW will be making the case that an 8 team playoff expansion is the way to go. Pac and B1G may join the chorus, but every other G5 needs to get behind this movement and hopefully get Congress to put in their 2 cents.

Has UFC made enough noise over the last two years that they will push for a P5 invitation just to shut us up?? :sunglasses:

Even if we get into the P5 one day, the system is still unfair and should be expanded to at least 8 teams... with 1 G5 spot and 2 at large's.
Agreed. Each P5 gets their conference champion in; highest ranked G5 gets a nod; then 2 at large bids give P5 2 more shots so that conceivably one P5 conference could field up to 3 different teams.

Why would they even be against that?

At least one other P5 got screwed over and we're not the only ones. I was hoping to UGA would have won to further create controversy. Nonetheless, we need to unite w/other stakeholders and begin anti-trust investigations. The results of this entire system is truly disheartening and unfair to our players who have earned the right to compete at the very highest level. Unless litigation is started, I don't see this good ole' boy system ever changing.

It’s good that Georgia, an SEC school got screwed too. They carry a lot of clout

If suing the system, then don't simply accept this 8 team bullpuckey. Sue for a real play-offs like the actual NCAA groups that do play-offs. UCF deserves in, Fresno and whatever else ranked G5 deserves in. Make it an impossible choice to leave G5s out. Don't settle for 8! Kill the bowl system.

Here's the thing, there is no P5, G5. It's a made up term by the media and this college football invitational to create a financial line of demarcation. We are all D1 FBS. We should all have equally opportunity to earn a way into the CFP.

All about $. Don’t think for a second a panel with AD’s will give away all that conference money to a conference not in that board room. No way. That’s a Christmas raise for all those AD’s in the conference

Sadly, they would find a way to keep us out with an 8 team playoff.

We are not in "the club".
#9. Behind a three loss team if they had to

We will never forget

Ohio State, back-to-back left out after winning the Big-10. That has to hurt.

Agreed, the system is broke when a team on a two year winning streak doesn't control their own destiny. Fix it.

Do you remember the cup of coffee you had 3 years ago? Neither does he. He couldn't get out of here fast enough.

Sure I do, after hearing about the coffee beans that go through the civet's digestive system, I tried a do-it-yourself brew with my cats. I don't think coffee's supposed to taste like that.

Big 10 completely happy with the results. " Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany says he's not frustrated w CFP rankings. "Obviously would love to be in system every year but have respect for those chosen and offer sincere congratulations to players and coaches at Alabama, Clemson, ND and OU""

No P5 is ever going to do a damn thing about changing the play-offs- too much to lose.

By the way that came from the CBS website.

Not surprised Ohio State was already left in as a non conference champ. They cashed in on their favors that year. :sunglasses:
