or does this country just need to split? It really is starting to seem like things are too far gone to keep things together.

Maybe split the country. Those that want to live in a sh!t hole with no police and the other side productive members of society.
Logistically it would be pretty tough because of geography, free travel, trade, etc. but I'm to the point that I think it would be better than what we have. There's just too big of a cultural divide right now to have an overarching federal government satisfy both sides.

I hope not bc that is exactly what Putin wants

There are a certain chain of events that I think would lead to Pac12 States flirting with it.

How do we divvy up the debt? Or do we just default on it?

Theoretically, let's say Texas actually does decide to secede. We want an amicable divorce so how do we apportion their debt? Population or GDP?

No debt, no USA. New currency.

I think it is too late. and no there will not be a split and 2 countries. The Socialist will win just like the Nazi's/socialist did. Freedom will end, the Europe likely fall apart without us. With the US becoming the next Venezuela, the engine that has lifted 100s, of millions of people out of poverty will be gone. The natural state of man in history has been slavery, mistreatment, and poverty led by a few very wealthy.

History will repeat itself.

Haha! Wrong. It's very easy to see where this is going. We will move in the same direction as our anglo allies, Canada, UK, and Australia. A country with universal health care, quality transportation and better safety standards for our food, water and air.

i think you may be right, especially if trump loses.

If I might make a point, we've got a pretty good thing going on here in the US of A. I think it's awesome how different people and places are across this great land. I've done extensive traveling in the US and I've yet to travel anywhere else (yet) that is like it, and I've been to a lot of different countries (although only on vacations and not staying for extended periods of time to live or anything like that). Walking away or giving up now would be kind of like going 13-0, winning a Natty, then taking on a job that produces a ~.409 win percentage. Yeah, I'll stick with greatness and the USA until I'm dead.

In my opinion outside of Florida beaches & Orlando theme parks most of the appeal of America at least as a destination is Colorado and to the West. Yes the history, power and money circles around DC to NYC but if I am making a recommendation to a foreign tourist that is doing an extended trip after seeing Florida I would say skip the Northeast head West: Coastal California, drive through the Desert to Vegas, Grand Canyon, Colorado, ect. . Or maybe I'm being too harsh on the Northeast and am biased based on scenery and weather:D

In the top 20 states and DC ranked by GDP per capita, only 4 vote republican and none of those 4 have a population over 2 million.

Y'all really want to split from the bread winners? Have your biggest company be Loves Truck Stops or something?

If it meant separating from wastes of life like you? Fine by me. These cesspool left wing States won’t survive on their own given they’re scared of guns.

We get food, oil, and Disneyworld. They get riots, CNN, and an unwarranted sense of self importance.

Best divorce ever

Oh I love this. Well based on the top 10 states for GDP Blue Voting States have a 6-4 advantage. They are carrying the weight!! But wait, there’s more! Top 10 states based on debt: 9 Blue 1 Red. So maybe those blue states racking up the debt shouldn’t brag about their GDP when they are still in the red and sinking.

Florida - Red

Ohio - Red

That's what we are saying. It's so great that we can stand it and must tear it down.

Why aren't there any southern states with high non-white populations on that list

if trump wins reelection, i think there will be massive violent riots
If he wins? What happens if he loses? He already setting the stage for massive protests and unsupported proclamations of fraud.

Incorrect. Louisiana hasn't been blue since Katrina. NC has become like FL where it teeters back and forth.
NC is still purple, but used to be red. that is why I said it is trending blue. In Louisiana, much of state is red, but Nawlins itself is still pretty blue. John Edwards is the current Gov of La. he is a Democrat. The legislature is currently Red.

will be interesting to see how Florida, Georgia, and Texas trend. All 3 could stay 'red' but if they don't wonder if they head the way of Colorado which was once a swing state to now being solid Blue.

So why is it that a state can't secede? Let's say Hawaii wants to do it, would the US invade? Treat them like a foreign country and establish positive relations? Technically its not unconstitutional, so they could do it and not have that be a declaration of war or treasonous.

The Supreme Court decided after the Civil War that states did not have the right to secede. Recently, Justice Scalia has expressed the same opinion.
