So far there are 14 plays who have opted to redshirt and not play the remainder of the season. Will there be more remains to be seen. Is this a cause of concern? Has Gus lost the team?
it is pretty obvious Walker is going to transfer if this coaching staff remains in placeI would say the bigger negative is the players leaving are local players from Apopka and Sanford. Makes it tougher next go round to have players from the local schools to commit.
Also doesn't seem to be much talk about John Walker status, he shouldn't play more than 4 games. However, I would think his return next year is not guaranteed either.
Gus sucks. His QBs can’t score.so i haven't been here for some time now, as a k-state fan we don't play. i thought gus's bus was loaded and said the knights were a b12 dark horse. now they have turned into a dark house. what the hell happened - injuries, transfers, qb?
14!?! That number seems higher than I thought it was?So far there are 14 plays who have opted to redshirt and not play the remainder of the season. Will there be more remains to be seen. Is this a cause of concern? Has Gus lost the team?
You are correct, it was my mistake to listen to rumors.14!?! That number seems higher than I thought it was?
Townsend, Wells, Threats, Call, Boomer, Moore. One offensive lineman (Dorsey). Who else am I missing?
No surprise. No reason for him to play. Now if Malzahn can't keep him on the team, then his one lone positive attribute is lost.
When he said this, how do you not follow up with what is KJ Jefferson's status, and are you really saying the 17-year old is a better option as backup than the 3-year SEC starter? No surprise. Now this is interesting. Pretty massive miss by the staff to now have your high paid QB captain will not even see the field anymore.
Only hope is to avoid NIL pay. However, knowing how this has been managed so far they are probably going to have some stipulation that requires them to pay him more not to play. When he said this, how do you not follow up with what is KJ Jefferson's status, and are you really saying the 17-year old is a better option as backup than the 3-year SEC starter?
I'm fine with us going with Brown. There's talent there, and KJ wasn't getting it done, so see what Brown has and figure out if you have to go back to the portal again next season, but why is KJ just out of the picture completely?
This is interesting, is it possible for NIL money to be contingent on starting or playing a certain amount of games?Only hope is to avoid NIL pay. However, knowing how this has been managed so far they are probably going to have some stipulation that requires them to pay him more not to play.
Details of professional contracts are publicly known. These NIL deals are not. I just don’t understand why some of our reporters don’t ask the question, “Is KJ no longer playing for NIL reasons?”These are professional contracts. K.J. and the rest of these guys are being paid to play football. And for the most part they aren't kids or even students -- they are 18 or older, and they jump from school to school like hired mercenaries. There is no reason to continue acting like these are kids playing for their schools and the love of the game.
No most pro contracts dont stipulate playing or starting. Dashaun Watson can sit at home and get $100 Mil. There are bonuses put in on getting TDs, sacks etc. But the contract gets paid base pay no matter what. With NiL I think it should be weekly payouts. If a guy is still on team in good standing, he gets paid. If he sits out, bye bye money. This is interesting, is it possible for NIL money to be contingent on starting or playing a certain amount of games?
I don't know if that feels right, when it's a college kid we're talking about. I know it's common practice in professional contracts.
I’m talking about incentives, not the base salary. In baseball players might have incentives if they have a certain amount of games or hit a certain amount of home runs. Same in football games played, receptions, tackles. I’m purely speculating but maybe Jefferson had incentives that would get him more money if he played a certain amount of games, or TD passes or something, and some money man said we’re not paying that incentive, so now KJ isn’t even an option even though he’s still on the team.No most pro contracts dont stipulate playing or starting. You’re saying KJ told Gus he’s not playing anymore because the money won’t get paid it Gus was told not to play him because they aren’t paying? That wouldn’t be smart on NIL to refuse to pay. No one would come here. It’s probably just Gus getting backlash for KJ not winning do he’s saving him from the constant outcries. But maybe the money won’t get paid. I don’t know. Wouldn’t be good though.I’m talking about incentives, not the base salary. In baseball players might have incentives if they have a certain amount of games or hit a certain amount of home runs. I’m speculating that Gus was told to make sure that KJ doesn’t play rest of the year, and only reason I can think why is money. Save him from constant outcries? KJ is coming from SEC country. You don’t think there were constant outcries throughout the state of Arkansas when they were going 4-8 last year? I can buy KJ is not getting it done so let’s see what Jacurri, our other transfer QB, has. What I can’t buy, is one week being 100% completely all in on KJ, and the next KJ is not even in the picture. He’s so not in the picture that the 17 year old is above him in the depth chart now.
