Cincinnati vs UCF Game Details

Date: Wednesday, February 5, 2025
Time: 7:00 PM ET
Broadcast: CBS Sports Network
Location: Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, FL
Spread: UCF -3.5 | Total: 144.5

Game of the year for us, no other way to put it. A must win for sure if we still want to be alive for a Tourney bid. Cincinnati comes in, losers of 4 straight. We’ve lost 4 of 5. This game will be about who wants it more. Cincinnati is 16-5 against us all time, and has won 4 in a row. If we don’t come focused and bring the energy tonight, it’ll be 5 in a row.

I just read some betting sights on the game. they say Cinci Defense is real good, and UCF Offense is good. Says Strength vs Strength. Basically, said UCF should win as along as they play their game and it doesn't get ugly. But, we've seen that the refs can control a game and UCF can get ugly. Also, I hope UCF is a full strength and no flu bugs.

Hard Rock Betting App has UCF -3 and o/u: 146.

I think UCF plays great tonight with a must win game. I put a buck for -3 for UCF to win. Probably just cursed UCF though. I typically lose when I bet.

The biggest disappointment is the kid from Syracuse. It seems like he’s got absolutely no focus. The epitome of a guy with $1 million talent and a 10 cent head

Yeah, I’m pretty disappointed at the JJ Taylor/M. Williams/Dior Johnson trio. So much internet hype, HS/AAU hype, but they are just not very good at this point. Young players I know, but not that young.

Can’t shoot, no one in that trio can. UCF’s bench this season has been a disaster.

But yeah, B. Williams has great run & jump athleticism. But he’s been kind of a let down as well (for a guy that has played 100 games in his career). UCF’s interior defense is as bad as anyone’s in the country.

Its the same script every year. Start off looking okay with a nice win or two, collapse through the middle of the season, and win a couple down the stretch to make it seem like they're finally clicking but come up short.

Pretty disappointed with this team. I thought we would be better at this point. I think Cinci is better than their conference record, but we just played bad down the stretch to let them cruise to victory. It did t seem like the crowd did much to help in the 2nd half compared to some of the other road crowds I’ve seen in the Big12. NIT it is.

In the end, we needed Sellers so we had some offense off the bench by someone. Defense has been disappointing too. Normally a strength for Dawkins’ teams. Thiam is playing great as a young freshman, just imagine what he would be if this were his 2nd year.

We need someone other than Thiam up front. Williams has the talent but has been a BIG disappointment He looks entirely disinterested

Same damn script with Johnny. He did this at Stanford too.

-Terrible defense, even the announcers kept saying it (Our own Mike Odonnel was an announcer). How many dunks on us??
-Offense misses too many shots
-Turnovers, specifically passes that fly out of bounds under the basket untouched.
-HUGE QUESTION, why are these kids on our bench that will never play? I just don't get it for the life of me. Johnny?
-We have Big 12 money this year. What is the problem??? Can Johnny not recruit?
-Same crap every year with Johnny, we get worse as the season progresses into conference play
-How many years are they going to give Johnny? Two more years of this crap?
-Johnny and his coaches seem to not be able to coach these kids up.
-When there is a time out, why is Johnny not talking to the starters and another coach is????
-Johnny is a passive coach, no flame, no fire. This translates directly to the team.
-DID I MISS ANY?

Good points. I was really pulling for Johnny cause I like him and we have had some great moments with him as our coach. I was expecting more this season. I’m not sure what it is, but something just doesn’t seem right with this team. The biggest thing I don’t get is why our defense is so bad. I just checked and as far as defensive efficiency, this is by far the worst we’ve been since he got here. Many years we’re top 50 and we’re like 206 this year. Our offense is putting up points, but it doesn’t matter if you can’t stop anyone. I always feel like defense is more of an effort thing, so are the guys just not giving the type of effort we’ve had in the past? Dawkins is 61 and signed a 2 year deal last year. Is he thinking about winding down his coaching career or does that fire still burn within him. I know this conference is packed with great basketball coaches that are super competitive and super hungry to be playing deep into March.

Next year we lose a lot of main guys. If Thiam stays, we would have him, Hall, Mikey Williams, JJ Taylor, and Dior Johnson. Not sure how the recruiting class looks, but we would need a lot of help.
