Haven't read the article yet, but if the new philosophy includes tackling, it will be an improvement.
I think this new philosophy is not giving up when you're behind. If he can enforce that, he'll be light years ahead of the soft 2015 defense.
I don't know if that's fair, statistically we had the worst offense in the nation last year and it goes without saying that we were behind so much that any defense would get tired of it. We're not taking about a case where we were down by 14 points a few times and gave up, we're talking about being down 30+ points and knowing your offense has had less than 5 first downs the entire game. I don't know what you expect at that point, if not frustration and ultimately, some level of apathy.
