****Decision Monday: Big 12 meets and has presser about Expansion***

Someone better tell the Big 12 to start watching ESPNews- where they're discussing how a 1 loss Louis. etc should be in the playoffs ahead of an undefeated Big 12 member. They need to do something to improve their conference and just grabbing more money from Espn probably won't do anything. Time to look into the future and figure out who will help you most. They are truly pathetic.

Is it 9 years remaining on that GOR? Will be here before you know it. This really just cements the exit of OU and TX. Some of those remaining 8 will be scrambling for a home in the American.

Membership in the Big 12? I already call my member the Big 12!

Okla St. goes with OU, some other team goes with Texas, the other better teams go to other P4 conferences, and the American goes to superconference with the Big 12 teams who haven't won in a decade. Such fun.

On, the bright side,Houston,Cincy and BYU did not get invited either.

So, what part of the Big East sinking ship do these guys with PhDs not understand in regards to the fate of of their own futures?

Sorry guys. I know a lot of you had your hopes up. I don't see how the Big 12 survives whether they had expanded or not. They aren't going to be able to compete financially with the other 4 Power conferences. Texas and Oklahoma aren't going to want to commit to being in the Big 12 beyond their 2024 TV Rights deal expiration.

So basically you'll combine the better schools in the AAC with what's left of the Big 12 and that's still better than the current AAC. Maybe not a Power conference but the potential would be there if the Kansas States, TCUs and UCFs, ect. prove they can compete on the National level.

Dream on. I really wish it was different, but it wont be. And the dregs of the Big 12 saddles AAC with 4 new also rans. I can't get over the excitement of what Iowa St and Kansas will bring to football. Hurray, someone Tulane can beat constantly. it were to happen, I doubt it would elevate the AAC one bit. The good teams will go elsewhere.

PS, like any AD in this conference is going to vote to get rid of current members. And then bring in the never wons from the bottom of the Big 12.

It's definitely time to try and pick off the best of the MW to form the best possible national G5 conference we can. CSU, Air Force, BYU and Boise State would be a nice 4 to consider adding and in football terms bring just as much to the table as waiting around to pick up the scrap pieces of the Big 12. Iowa State, TCU, Texas Tech and the rest of them can rot for all we care. Once they lose membership in the power structure they will be nothing special anyway.

Starting to see some of the panic setting in on the message boards of the non-OU/TX members of the Big12. They get it. The ship is sinking and they have an uncertain future. What a complete mess.

Yep it's official. Not expanding. We certainly dodged that bullet as a school and as a conference.

Yep, certainly wouldn't want to be in a better conference, with better teams top to bottom and in a better position to prove to other conferences when they expand that we can play on that level. We certainly wouldn't want that. Let's stay G5. hope you're happy because that's the way it's going to be. Sub-par money, sub-5 and 4 star recruits, and no one watching us or giving a crap about the American. At least eyes are on the crap Big 12, now that Houston lost, the American is ..... "Who?"

I think this idiot just said in the press conference, "it was a celebration of what we already have." LOL

The Big 12 probably won't survive long term whether UCF was added or not. They have no way to add members and adding enough eyeballs to the TV Sets to make more money if everyone was splitting the pie equally. The only thing they could have done is see who wants in for the least amount of money. And they'll be the only Power 5 without a Network and that won't change in my opinion. UCF is better off status quo and then being a conference with the Big 12 teams that get left out in the cold. A Conference with teams like Baylor, TCU, Kansas State, ect. is better than what the AAC is currently. I just think you'll be glad the Big 12 passed on expansion because it wouldn't have been a long term stable solution.

I listened to the press conference on XM/sirius College radio. The guy speaking sounded old school. Gonna improve on technology. Eh? No expansion, No Big 12 network. What an idiot. Stay stagnate and be the laughing stock. Big 12 with 10 members. Whatever, what a bunch of backward thinking people in the Big 12. Good luck. I don't watch the Big 12 now but would if they had a Florida presence. There loss. Again,,,,whatever. Go American Conference, Go Knights!

It's obvious what the powers that be are driving towards following an inevitable Big 12 collapse. The Power 4 - 4 playoff games, 4 conference champions. The other schools never have a chance.

I said it before and will say it again. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. "Big East 2.0" Many think the Big 12 will be in trouble when Oklahoma leaves. Now back to reality, I like the American conference and the competitive brand it has to offer. If it wasn't for the money (ESPN) the AAC could become a strong conference. :sunglasses:

They aren't a better conference. They have 2 big names who have designed their conference rules in their favor and the other teams are riding their coat tails. Getting paid to lose is loser thinking.

We can continue to dominate our very good conference and should be the leading voice for a legit playoff and fair playing field.

UCF is way better off in the AAC. #Facts [smoke]

This bodes well for us as well. When their league implodes we can become the fifth power conference, and cherry pick whatever teams make sense. Maybe it's better to let them implode, than keep begging them to be accepted.

I tend to agree. We were not going to get an invite. We are better off the AAC stayed intact. I would actually like us to go to 16 with the best of MWC/BYU and get a better TV deal.
If you could get 6 to 8 mil per year out of TV deal, all but lock up Access bid, And get at least one better bowl bid for runner up, we would be set in a pretty decent place.
