I mean, there have been some experiments taken with mail-in ballots to a PO box to see how many made it back that have shown the PO losing ballots in transit. But for Trump to tweet this right now certainly seems like an idiotically tone deaf tweet. Or he's straight-up trolling.
We have a real problem on our hands in america after election day no matter what.

No matter what happens, the last 2 months of 2020 will be horrific. With what we have seen so far there is almost no imaginable circumstance that we have a peacful transition of power. The ground work is being laid to contest the results now.

Agreed. Late this year and early next year are going to be ugly no matter what happens, and I have a feeling Trump will go out of his way to make it worse.
The only thing that could save us is republicans and "conservative" media turning on him. I use quotes there because there is nothing conservative about what he is trying to do.
I dont think they could save us at this point either. Qanon and all of these nut job losers will just believe that the "conservative media" is also part of some conspiracy against Trump. The only thing would be, if he loses, if Trump acts like a normal president, congratulates Joe, says he is looking forward to working with him during the transition, etc etc. But, I cant possibly see it playing out that way.

And people have warned about this type of thing his entire presidency, so it isnt like its out of the blue. It's just written off as TDS. I an interested to see how some of the posters here respond if Trump does lose, and starts claiming it was rigged, likely without supplying any evidence.
They've also been warning that he was Hitler, that he was a Russian pawn, and a thousand other things that haven't been true. Let's see what, if any, action comes out of the administration before we get too crazy about Trump trolling the left.
I dont think trolling the left with regards to a constitutional crisis is really something that should be celebrated by anyone.
You're right, it shouldn't. It's a stupid tweet and a stupid tactic. He is, and has ever been, a gigantic asshat.
I also dont think he is just trolling the left. If he had the authority there is no doubt in my mind he would delay the election. But I think you are missing what he is actually doing. He is setting this up, and has been doing this for months now, to make it out the the election wasnt legitimate. He knows he is losing, so by already setting the stage that it was rigged, it is going to make it much easier to convince his people that it is all a conspiracy against him.
I get that you think that is what he is doing. I would be a lot more apt to consider that if (a) the media and the entire left wasn't crying about the same exact thing before the last election, (b) if it didn't turn out that the people crying about it now were the same people that wasted 10's of millions of taxpayer dollars trying to overturn the last election, and (c) if the Administration actually went rogue on the multitude of times that some random District judge ordered a ruling subverting the executive's Constitutionally-given powers and went ahead and did what Trump wanted anyways rather than revising the orders and reissuing.
So, maybe you're right and this is Trump seizing power like you've all been screaming about for 4+ years. But despite all of that screaming, we just haven't seen it and so I feel a little patience is in order to see what happens before we all start believing in whatever the hell you guys decide to rage on about today.
It has nothing to do with the media, just read his tweets, they speak for themselves. I know it is easy to blame the media for everything, but Trump actually tweets and says things too, and that isnt the medias fault. And my god, he claimed the last election was rigged too, and that was an election he won.
Like I said, he’s an asshat. But let’s be honest that he wasn’t the only one who was claiming that election was rigged. We had to deal with that for years.

Yeah, the mail isn’t foolproof. But we still allow absentee ballots by mail because there is no inherent bias in the randomness of losing a piece of mail.
I do vote by mail. I have concerns over going from a portion of people voting by mail to 100%. I think concern is valid. I don't think this is reason to delay an election.
But we live in a world of systemic racism, right? There sure is an opportunity for a racist system to lose more ballots in less privileged areas, thus disenfranchising them more. Or do we trust the government systems all of a sudden because Trump is railing against them now?
If by “racist system” you are referring to a postal worker committing mail fraud then yes it is possible. But there doesn’t seem to be the same outrage for mail in ballots currently, a large number of whom are military that lean heavily conservative.
He is the president, it doesnt matter if he is the only one, he should be held to a higher standard. There was no evidence of any sort of wide spread voter fraud, absolutely none.
I mean the beauty of mail in balloting is you can actually check if it is received and can vote in person as a backup. You can even mail it in early if you are concerned that it will get lost in the mail.
There is a whole process in place for military to vote by mail. I don’t see why it can’t be more universally implemented in response to a pandemic other than it is primarily conservatives who makeup the military and there is no incentive to make the process easier for other groups.
You can even hand deliver it so you dont have to wait in line and die of covid like Herman Cain.
In person, ID verified voting is the best way to prevent voter fraud. I can't believe we are actually discussing the merits of widespread mail-in voting. We have early voting, absentee ballots, and overseas ballots already. If people can't make those work then they have no business voting in the first place.
