I know we've talked about this issue in the past, but I wish there was some way to fill the seats in the cabana section. While the whole Florida themed stadium area is super cool and unique, the large midsection of empty seats as a consequence of everyone standing on the patio, is not.

Go Knights! Beat the Panthers!

Basically, I move away from those seats, because even though I was at
on the 50 yard-line, they were too far away from the field and Cabana entrance. It was way too sunny during the day games. The patio was just a lot more fun, close and convenient. It was like a big party.

Also, it would be nice to drop the price a little. We lost a lot of seats by putting it in and it needs to be nearly soldout, because they can't go back at this point.

It is nearly sold out and dropping the price would significantly decrease the total revenue generated by those seats.

What if they took away the assigned seating and people just paid for access to the patio part like EngAlum suggests? Then you can also sell the seats that those people aren't using anyway. Add beer sales throughout the stadium and have liquor and craft beer options available to the club and cabana members. All this should = more revenue even if you dropped the cabana price a little as a result.

I think that we still need assigned seating. Some people get the seats that they have because they don't want old people climbing 20 stairs over and over. I would be good with letting more people into the Cabana with a wristband but they would keep their same seat in the stadium. They would just have access to food/beer and bathroom. The more people in the common area, they more likely you'll go to your seat and the university makes more money.

I like the thinking outside the box mentality in this thread. And double yes to CRAFT BEER access....what a total loss of revenue they are missing out on...

Just in case Danny White is reading...Get those Knightmove dancers to walk up and down the aisle selling craft beer. Gives them a job to pay for school, puts revenue in the coffers, and gets us Man-Cave-hard-to-watch-football-without-beer People to the games.... That is a Win-Win-Win scenario.

Removing assigned seats and allowing others in the cabana makes zero sense. It is a club, just like the west side club. Members pay for access to a seat that also grants them access to either watch at the rail, at the bar, at the table by the bar, or get a quick drink and run to the bathroom. You let others in and it gets crowded and much less enjoyable.

Have y'all been to the stadium in Jacksonville? Their Bud Light Party Zone in the endzone is a free for all shit show in which people can barely walk.

I'm not saying to make it a free-for-all. I'm saying reduce price a little and allow more people to join the club than there are seats available. In other words, seats are first come first serve to those in the club. I have a couple of friends in the club that say they have never sat in their seats and probably never will. I doubt another 50 or 100 people will make it less enjoyable.

I agree, not a good idea to get rid of assigned seating. I was thinking more like an "add-on" to their existing seat that they get access to the Cabana club. Maybe for an addition $4-500/seat. Keeps the ref-raf out, makes more money, fills that area of the stadium.

I am in the minority that I hate the Cabana. It's a football stadium, not a vacation resort. If you're trying to create a home field advantage with a rowdy crowd, I don't think the solution is a gigantic empty area reserved for the "elite" with money to burn so they don't have to sit with the general population. That's what box seats a mile over the field are for.

It just screams "Orlando Magic Corporate Seat Happy Hour" to me.

I love getting away from everyone. Watching my friends as they get frustrated trying to convince security to let them walk through.

Let's face it Firm. You're an"elite" little
snoot being in the Cabana and now all of us little peasants on this board must bow down to you. You probably even helped fund the GOL statue with all that extra cash that you rich people have. Money to burn!!

If we're going to be forced to have something like the Cabana, at least have it match the theme of the mascot. We're the Knights. A "Court" makes more sense. A tiki bar in Florida, how original? Let's play Jimmy Buffett songs and Bob Marley Legend on an endless loop while we're at it. We could sing Margaritaville after the 3rd quarter and wear airbrushed UCF shirts to every game. A child could be abducted at every halftime and at every last home game they bring in huge fans and sprinklers and create a hurricane that destroys the entire set up.

And all you need to get in is "The Patch".

As a cabana club member, I always sit in my seats before UCF go onto the field for warmups. I've been in that section since the stadium opened. No, you can't do unassigned seating. The perks are quick access to bathrooms, food and drink without having to walk down to ground level. The fold out seats are very comfortable. The drunk people that sit near me, I am glad they spend most of their time in the cabana below.

I like this idea a lot!
Spoken like someone that isnt shelling out $900 per seat. Go worry about how you spend your money, and I will worry about mine.

If they remove assigned Cabana seating I will drop those seats and buy a block of 20 in the north end zone, ensuring a one row empty seat buffer around the 8 seats we actually use.

Increase the seating to the top of the stadium/2nd deck and place a canopy and AC/fans over that section. Move the visitors to the area next to it to make up for any issue with the non-Cabana people sitting next to it having issues viewing the game because of the additions.

Probably increase the width of the seats to theater size too....maybe consider taking seats out of some of the rows and placing tables instead.

I would think that the Cabana would completely change if we get in the Big 12 because of the 2nd deck on that side of the stadium.

Not sure what you mean. You mean it would have to change because of structural reasons, or because of something else?

I would think they would make it bigger since more seats would be under shade to make more money.

Turrible idea. Then you won't be sitting in front of me anymore.

Sounds like you should be arguing for unassigned seating. You still have quick access to bathrooms, food, and drink without having to walk down. And If you have drunks near you, you can move to another seat. What am I missing?

With the stadium layout, there's no real shade on that side, no matter if you build an upper deck or not.

The cabana should have probably been in an end zone. A "Bud Zone" would be a good idea to give the adults access to dranks.

That end of the stadium needs a retractable roof/canopy. Someone give UCF money to do it.

I agree. It should've been right under the video board. Instead, they took away prime sideline seating.

With my GKC donation and seats, I'm actually probably not far behind your $900/seat. The "mine's bigger than yours" argument you're trying to assert here, however, completely misses the point. It's not about how much you pay for your seats; it's the blatantly EMPTY section of the stadium that's an embarrassment for us.

So you're asking me to give up a section of assigned seats in the bottom few rows of the Cabana because you and some others are so insecure that you're embarrassed by the sight of boosters paying good money to UCFAA for the privilege of enjoying the gameday atmosphere in a way that was explicitly intended when the Cabana was created?

There are many of us in the Cabana that want an assigned seat, and actually spend a good deal of game time actually sitting in it. If UCFAA wants to create a 2 tiered pricing scheme for assigned- unassigned seating, with a premium on the lower sections closest to the Cabana I would understand. That's not what you're advocating though, is it?

"Someone must do something because I feel embarrassed" isn't a good look for anyone.
