Fire Gus

We have to face the reality that after taking over a program in shambles, getting the program back to the championship game in season 2... just like GOL did... was worthy of an extension. It sucks, but it was warranted. And we did the same with GOL.

I still remember attending away games in 2006 and 2008 where GOL was heckled, endlessly. As much as things change, they also seem to stay the same.
Too drunk to even defend all the smoke you sending.

You wanna compare 5 years of Gus, to GOL.

Shambles = arguably the best RB the program ever had, and a QB leading the #1 team in the nation.

Our coaching style shows absolutely no creativity, no urgency when needed, and absolutely no concept of the game clock. This is an incredible coaching staff according to Terry. Obviously the “ONE” is greater than all of the donors and fans that say there need to be changes.

Did GOL elevate after 2 years?!

And Gus hasn't had 5 years. Heck, he hasn't even had 4 HS recruiting clasaes.

Yes, you are drunk. :)

So, who we getting? Dino plan? :)

GOL had up years and down years up years and down. Every time we were selected to win theconference, we lost our butts off. the next year was much better. The only thing Gus has done is got worse year after year.. His first he got lucky with the previous HC team, who everyone was happy was no longer HC. Then he started rluining the players and got worse every year. There's no way you can tell me Gus is even fair when he's the same as Houston, the worst team we came in with. Now we are Houston. At least Houston was brave/stupid enough to fire their loser HC last year. I'm guessing you're going to love the 2 win season next year.

So... GOL elevated huge jump after year 2?

You mean he got worse in Year 2?! Not understanding.

The rest is all BS. I think it only proves my point. Anyone who thinks this program wasn't a mess after 2020, let alone ignores he didn't even have a 2021 class, is too funny.

He musta done something right for UCF athletics to build a statue of him.
Yes. It took a decade.

But a crapload of people were against it too. And they hated GOL before the 2010 Liberty Bowl, and some even before 2013.

You're rewriting history. GOL wouldn't have had a statue anytime before 2014 January, let alone Yun guys would be demanding his firing in 2009, let alone 2008 and definitely 2006.

Stop rewriting history. You're just discrediting yourself and completely ignoring history.

Just like those who were screaming to the point Milton wanted to leave after 2016.

We had the worst fortune in losing giants of UCF-- a president and an AD that actually was driven to succeed. As seen in history, giants or Greats, are usually followed by people who can never do 1/3 of what the great did.
So true, oh so true!

History is learned... or repeated.

What I'm still amazed by is this... The more I correctly predict... the more I'm hated.

Is it just because I was correct? Or is it because Iaid it out in a way no one else did, many called me an idiot for (if they even read it), and then it came true?

Be careful he’s gonna bring up Dino Babers.
We've have a good 13 Dino like name drops this year. Take your pick.

Nobody has mentioned Dino Babers for years except u my friend
Again... History is learned... or repeated.

Or are you so thick you don't realize what I'm pointing out?

Btw ur man Gus is a fraud
And when did I want Gus? Or did you just assume that?

I just don't want Gus fired for $12M, and one of the Dino-like replacements, for another $6-12M.

That's all.

So let him keep trending downwards with his high school O n now his immature
mannerism. It’s not ideal to take the hit with money but ur man Gus is a punk who can’t win

Give us a non-Dino argument and we'll listen.

I'm tired of people thinking firing Gus is the solution, one easily replaced with a MAC or SunBelt Coach for automatic 10+ win seasons.

Give us a real plan and we'll probably agree.

It’s not about 10+ win seasons guaranteed. It’s about positive energy and not someone who looks down on us as a school

You got some stake in that $12M? It's not your money, why do you care?

Anybody we bring in will definitely be a Dino, huh? Just because you say so? Right.

Statistically... yes.

Give us a Frost type hire, and we'll probably listen.

But until then, no plan is no plan, and will suck, as far as real probability goes

Mohajir should have a plan, that's his job. As fans we are not privy to those plans. That doesn't mean he shouldn't have a plan. Whether someone on this board has identified that plan or come up with that plan on their own is ****ing irrelevant.

I ALWAYS thought Dino was overrated n would be exposed. That happened. I think we seriously look at what Indiana did n is there a guy out there that wins consistently n can bring his players too implement his scheme and mentality. IU’s coach was 1AA for years btw

So we should hire a coach like a coach that has a team with a crap strength of schedule who had their butts handed to them when they actually played a top 10 team that would very likely have a losing record in our conference?

You want to get rid of Gus, put together a letter of protest to the UCF President demanding that not only should Gus be fired, but also the AD and maybe a few other has-beens in the athletic department, i.e. Dawkins. Get it sign by the fans clubs and others who provide the bulk of the money. If that doesn't work, boycott the games, get a campaign going through the the student newspaper. Don't reward incompetence like the good ol' US of A does.

U lack knowledge. IU would’ve had a losing record in the Big 12 after a 1 loss season in the big 10 ? They beat Nebraska 56-7 who beat Colorado nuff said. Keep pushing ur boy Gus

Yes. The Big 10 SoS sucks, and Indiana has virtually the weakest of the bunch, ACC level.

You expect people to take that awful transitive seriously? If so, then UCF wins the ACC. :)

Never wanted Gus.
I am more of a lurker than anything but I have been on the forum for a long time at this point and I think you're misrepresenting a lot of points with your arguments here.

I understand your idea that being too trigger happy with firing a coach can do a lot of harm to a program but there is nothing from this season that you can point to as a positive, other than Harvey. The special teams have been atrocious and offense and defense have both struggled for large stretches of games. If we were wracked by injuries that might be one thing but only the defense has that excuse. This was not a young team and it drastically underperformed in all phases.

Also comparing firing Gus to GOL doesn't work because prior to GOL there was no history of success. We had never been to a bowl game and had only recently even joined a conference. GOL got a lot of patience because the program was growing and the team didn't even have its own stadium. Gus took a team that had had success under its previous three coaches and has trended steadily downward. Next year we will already have a depleted roster so why let him continue to have control?

But firing can be a huge negative in so many ways... buyout, lost players/transfers, lost recruits.

We played well under our talent level, yes, no argument. I can be objective and admit that. However...

Also comparing firing Gus to GOL doesn't work because prior to GOL there was no history of success. We had never been to a bowl game and had only recently even joined a conference.
That's because of how the bowls work (rather don't) with independent teams, and... there were far less bowls back then.

But UCF had success before GOL. 2013 level success? No. But we had success.

GOL got a lot of patience because the program was growing and the team didn't even have its own stadium. Gus took a team that had had success under its previous three coaches and has trended steadily downward.
The state of the program was good after 2020?

Sorry, but Gus walked into a program much worse off than Heupel did in 2018, and that's not even debatable. I don't understand how anyone could argue that. It's the biggest, discrediting move.

I'd even argue it was worse off than after 2015, given the beef O'Leary recruited (we had the #7 beeifest O-line of 2017, nearly all GOL recruits), but... that if would be far more debatable, I'll admit.

Next year we will already have a depleted roster so why let him continue to have control?
What if it's even far more depleted as a result?
