GOL Statue

It's not because of stats and percentages. Some people who like sports can't see past that. It's about other measurables. Under GOL's watch, UCF won bowl games...for the first time. Under GOL's watch, UCF won conference championships...for the first time. Under GOL's watch, UCF won a BCS Bowl Game...for the first time. Under GOL's watch, UCF finished in the Top 10 nationally...for the first time.

It's not about stats and win percentages. It's about where the program was when he got here and where it was when he left. Not 1 season, but as a whole. Is the OC of a program as successful and "hot" as Oregon taking the UCF HC job after going 0-12 before GOL got here? No. No way.

That's why he deserves a statue.

But we deserve better. No particular reason why we deserve it, we just do.

I think that we are all in consensus. No statue. Let's end this thread.

Yeah, the guy only won a BCS game with the youngest football program by about 30 years. He didn't bring us far enough and fast enough.

If you don't know what it was like to take a bus to the game from campus and sit in 98 degree weather for a noon kickoff against Samford in front of 2500 fans in the Citrus Bowl with the team wearing all black uniforms and QB named Hinshaw, then you just don't have a realistic view of how far the program came under GOL.

Good one. See the problem is that the highlighted happened 20 years apart. Money did that.
