Great Game SMU

I'd like to play them again. They were home and ready, we were off, we turned the ball over way more than we normally do, the refs were awful and we still won. And without the Akins fumble, this game wouldn't be as close.

For the AAC chmapionship in Orlando, UCF beats these guys by 17+ in round 2.

QB sucked actually. With how we played if they had a competent QB they would've killed us. Didn't think he was anything special.
20 TDs and 6 picks as a redshirt sophomore. 2500+ yards. He's very very good. Just whines way too much which was super annoying. Coach needs to tell him to shut up

He plays in a pass first spread, of course he's going to have lots of yards and TD's. He also has two of the best receivers in the AAC to work with. But look at how he does in big games he wilts, the 3 loses they have he hasn't been sharp. He had a lot of garbage yards in those games and against us take away the one big TD his passing stats are terrible. He's a good system QB and works for SMU but is nothing special and when he loses his stud wideouts not sure he will be able to carry that team.

The SMU program was a train wreck only about 5 years ago. They have made great strides. It benefits yhe confrende as a whole. As rick flair always said, "to be the man, you gottabest the man." It does our conference champ a disservice when too many programs just suck. Glad they no longer suck, and present a formidible challenge to anybody playing them.

It benefits the conference to have all teams being good but that's just not reality. While SMU is up you have Cincinnati who is down, Tulsa and ECU used to be good programs that are down, Temple is on an off year. I see Tulane and Connecticut being the bottom of the barrel, then you have us, USF, and Houston being the cream of the crop every year while the other teams will be up and down from year to year. If Norvell stays Memphis could be in the top group, Morris and Fickel should get SMU and Cincinnati back on the up but just below the rest but bowl team yearly.

we should have beat them by at least 17 in their house if we didn't leave all those points on the field....so yes I think we beat them by more than 17 if we play like we are capable of at home

SMU should stay competitive next year. Cincy is having an awesome recruiting season that will really pull them up with multiple playmakers on both sides of the ball if they maintain their class of course.

Temple may have just found their new QB for the next few years, which is really what they were missing earlier in the season.

I think the AAC is back on the upswing.

Another entitled Texas high school legend QB. He was alright but complained way too much.

We won 6 games last year and 0 the year before. That's not contending every year.

That 2015 year wasn't an indication of the program. We were coming off 2 straight conference titles, a 3rd year where we won the CUSA East, 3 straight bowl games. O'Leary wanted out a couple years prior and was going through the motions then we missed the FG vs FIU to lose which killed the teams confidence, then the meltdown vs Furman took any we had left and the team spiralled from there. If George left when he wanted we don't hit bottom like that but maybe we aren't undefeated like we are now. Last year you could see we had talent left over and were a good team sprinkled with Frost guys. He had a few coaching issues that lost us a couple of close games and Milton wasn't good yet but we were a top team in the conference. We should be a bowl team yearly and challenge the conference title 3 out of 4, there's going to be a year where we have more turnover than usually and have to reload but still good enough to go bowling. We had gone to a bowl 5 out of the last 6 years prior to that meltdown year in 15, that year wasn't a true indication of who we are.

The schools you listed as sometimes good and sometimes bad have excuses too. USF has. Never won a conference and you listed them as always in contention.

Their QB is very good, and normally I don't crap on these kids because they're kids but he was pretty whiny and had poor body language for a leader.

If USF could keep a coach they'd be more consistent, they have the talent like we do. Most of those other teams don't have the talent we do, the Texas schools do so if they can keep their coaches or at least replace them right they could maintain their level of play. It's why Navy is always good even without the best talent, they stay a good team because they're coached well. We have more talent, when we have good coaching we are a championship team.

I don't think he sucked. He just blew it at the end.

The receiver who dropped that pass late in the 4th blew it, would've been a 1st for them. The kid didn't quite suck but he didn't do a lot to impress me. The 1st TD was all the wideout and they had killer field position most of the game and didn't do much with it. We dared him to throw all game and he didn't pick us apart, he did good with his legs because we gave him that but besides that not much. They only had 17 offensive points and we had 3 turnovers and turned it over on downs a couple of times too. He really should've put up more points on us.

Conference wise, most importantly we should go undefeated versus out of conference and especially against the P5. Then UCF should be the conference champs and ideally undefeated at the end.

The only thing that upsets me about our win is comparison wise if we beat them by more than 20 like TCU did, maybe the committee takes notice. Thankfully Houston has 3 losses because they beat them by 13. I'll be rooting for a close game between SMU and Memphis.
