We have seen (here and in another forum) AL1 aka Malzon Acolyte promoting the idea that this off-season has been the best ever for Gus Malzahn. His opinion is greatly shaped by sixteen 3* transfers that are coming in for 2024. Obviously, nobody knows now how good or bad any of the incoming transfers will be at this point.

Let’s take a small dive on Malzon and the transfer portal. GM came in after the high school players for 2021 were signed (18) but he did bring in 10 transfers. In 2022: 16 high school players and 14 transfers. 2023: 15 high school players and 18 transfers. 2024: 18 high school players and 16 transfers.

For his three full classes (2022, 2023 and 2024): 49 high school players and 48 transfers. In total Malzahn has signed 58 transfer portal players.

Out of the 42 (not counting the ones arriving for 2024) transfer players from 2021, 2022 and 2023 nobody has been drafted and only Baker is forecasted to be drafted in 2024.

Now let’s have a look at the same 42 players and we will note that 26 of them have been a total bust or a player that played poorly/did not play.

Andrew Brito
Jordan Johnson
Jarvis Ware
Marco Domio
Mark Anthony-Richards
Nate Craig-Myers
Brandon Johnson
Shawn Paterson Jr
Demarkus Bowman
Branden Jennings
Terrence Lewis
Joey Gatewood
Corey Gammage
Isaiah Paul
Xavier Williams
Rian Davis
Decorian Patterson
Drake Metcalf
Bula Schmidt
Jireh Wilson
Trent Whittemore
Chauncey Magwood
De Jordan Mask
Gage King

Now I ask…how much faith for you have that the 16 three star transfers coming in will work out for UCF?

Whether it’s development or talent evaluation…UCF is falling short of reasonable expectations. It’s all on Gus Malzon…he either floats or sinks this year and it will be based on how his 2024 transfers perform.

Going into his fourth year and bringing 16 three star transfers (that number will grow after the Spring portal window) comes at a price. There are less spots for young high school players. When does Gus Malzon plan to develop and play his own guys? That question should be asked of him.

"Today at 1:57am" ...sheesh.

16 transfers, so far, and not one proven WR for KJ Jefferson to throw the ball to. Watch the resident acolyte applaud when Malzon brings 3* DB #10 to the 2024 class.

wrong chicken GIF by happydog

My opinion is "greatly shaped" by the decrease in poultry consumption on the Orlando campus due to the exodus of scared bird connoisseurs from the UCF roster. I actually didn't care who replaced them, so long as they were gone.

This is Malzon 4th year…these are his players. He has bypassed high school recruiting and keeps relaying on tranfer portal players…he keeps missing for the most part.

Going into his fourth year and bringing +16 portal guys is crazy. Obviously, wants to win now because excitement and donations will dry up if he doesn’t. We will see how it works out.

Dude has it made at UCF tho…he will never leave there. He’s making millions and has no real zero pressure or accountability (weak AD, weak media and weak fans).

He wears costumes, says things that most knowledgeable fans would know are b.s., blows games, goes back and forth with coaching changes and zero media questions him on it…he gets a free pass on everything. Lol.

You still here Lobo? Must be really dead on the UM board.

Top 8 recruiting class in 23 gets you 7-6 in an weak ACC.
Top 5 in 24 should get you up to 8-5.

Whatever they will still be better than Miami with how many 5 and 4 stars?

You should try to take an English class at a community college somewhere. Will help your idiotic posts.

The problem is that Mario Crystalballs thinks that by recruiting 5* players, he automatically has to lose 5 games each season. Tha U should be thankful there are no 7* ratings.

It’s a simple concept…recruit like Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State and not like irrelevant programs like UCF.

It's a simple concept....coach's who refuse victory formation are LOSERS
None of you people have know how college football works. Now. If you fans here know what it takes to build a national championship program.

Lol. If you guys had an idea how it needs to be done, you would not be very happy with what Gus Malzon is doing.

Miami had the best OL of the 2023 class. Miami had the best DL of the 2024 class. That’s how you build a football program.

Malzon has recruited a total of five high school OL in three full classes. UCF has two DL coaches and managed to sign a total of one high school DL in 2024. Malzon did sign NINE 3* DBs in the 2024 class. Welp.

Enjoy the great high school kids, 1/2 will be in the Portal in 2 or 3 years. They chase the $$ and playing time. It is the new reality. UM is so great you hang out here.

Reuben Bain started as a true freshman DL and made first team freshman All American. Francis Maguioa started every game at OT and made first team freshman All American.

Malzon has not developed any of his recruits at QB, RB, LB, OL or WR…look where UCF is currently at.

What lineman is Malzon bringing in from the portal? I’ll wait.
