He's Gone, Now What?

I’m expecting next year to potentially be worse than this year. Losing a crap ton of seniors, recruits are flying off the shelves, and guys are hitting the portal because Gus is gone. Whoever comes here has to come quick and hit the ground running

This move is a two year effect. Team gets dismantled and then made whole again with new regime. It's probably gonna suck for at least next year unless we get a miracle, then but then we already got one.

the portal giveth and taketh. it's possible for new coaches to field highly competitive teams in their first year with high roster turnover. look at indiana and arizona state.

Our new coach may have to dip into the transfer portal for 2025, however I would like to have more emphasis on high school recruiting and player development. Hopefully, our new coach will hire a good coaching staff.
I believe UCF had the worst group of assistant coaches in all of college football. Former DC Ted Roof was a disaster and was just collecting a paycheck.

Keep things in perspective. How has the program fared under Gus? Not exactly a model others will be emulating. We go 4-7 next year while trying to rebuild a failing system? No worse than the last two years. We need to hire a young progressive, aggressive coach that truly wants to build a national contender. It needs to be someone who players can actually relate to. Administration needs to decide whether we are going to try to be a player or just a team for the players to play.
