How Bad are Trump's Lawyers?

Maybe someone has pointed this out already but It needs it's own thread. Trump's "Strike Force" (Rudy's term) of lawyers are laughable. To show just how bad they are, Lin Wood filed an affidavit in Georgia - in his effort to stop the certification - by Russel Ramsland who is supposedly a cyber security effort. Well Russell did an depth statistical analysis proving - with high statistical confidence - that far more votes were cast in Michigan than possible - on the order of 431,000 votes in excess of 100% turnout in a number of precincts! This might be the source for what @Crazyhole was referencing in some video/or podcast yesterday.

Seems pretty damning right? The affidavit lists 19 precincts exceeding 100% turnout! Only 1 tiny little problem - whoever did the research got MI confused for MN - apparently. Yup, they took vote totals for Michigan precinct numbers and then compared them to MINNESOTA precincts.

I just can't. For my friends on this board who think Lin Wood, Sydney Powell, and Rudy are "good" attorneys - they are not. There's a reason no high profile firm is involved in what is (theoretically) the most important legal effort in the history of the nation. And I just saw a clip of Sydney Powell on a Q-Anon Youtube Channel. So yea. That's where we are right. Injecting InfoWars level nonsense directly into the heart of democracy from the headquarters of the Republican National Committee.

They're lawyers, this is what they do. They're going to put any and every possible facet into their filing so that they can elaborate on it in court. If there is a public pressure component to this lawsuit, such as on the legislation, then they are going to go out and make fantastic claims to stir up public sentiment.

This happens all the time in many different venues. You're sensitive to it because it is Trump right now. I don't know if you have any issue with Ben Crump throwing the race card in every police use of force case out and throwing out rank accusations with no foundation in evidence and data on every public forum he can so that he can get municipalities to settle lawsuits. This is the way the game is played.

Yes, people are sensitive to Ben Crump as well. He completely sucks ass.

That really has nothing to do with any of this but it’s a lovely red herring.

Elaborate on it in court?

These yahoos talk about massive voter fraud in front of the cameras -- but strangely -- not a peep inside the courtrooms where their frivolous lawsuits have been routinely tossed out.

Apparently even Trump lawyers are smart enough to know that perjuring themselves in front of a judge is a bad thing.

It's not a red herring. It's an example of another lawyer doing to same thing that the OP is saying is nonsense or somehow abnormal. This is a perfectly normal execution of the legal process by a law team.

The charade is over. You can drop the act. None of what is going on can be reasoned as legitimate or in good faith. I get that you are on a “side” and being stubborn on this, but it’s pathetic.

It's a classic red herring, bruh. It's ok.

I've accepted that Biden is going to be our President. But it's gaslighting to act like Trump's lawyers are doing anything out of the normal. This is what lawyers do.

Tell me what is misleading about the example if you want to try to dismiss it as a red herring. Maybe I'll learn something.

Ben Crump is unfortunate, but your mentioning of it is irrelevant and an attempt to distract from the main argument.

And again, it's an example of another lawyer doing similar things in a public venue to refute the original premise that Trump's lawyers are being unusual. It's directly relevant. I guess we'll just disagree.

So your characterization of Ben Crump justifies Trump's lawyers throwing out rank accusations of voter fraud in predominantly black precincts in Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Georgia with no foundation in evidence and data on every public forum he can so ratchet up distrust in our elections?

That's how "this democracy game" is played now?

Like I said, it's ok. Not relevant at all, but ok.

That's not what was in the video I shared. It showed that in every Detroit precinct, they didn't report verifying votes vs registered voters with their mail-in ballots. They did report it for election day votes, and all of the precincts outside of Detroit proper did for both. The information comes straight from Michigan vote reporting. He was asking why 173,000 votes weren't reported as being cross referenced to registered voters.

Lawyers can't perjure themselves as a legal counsel.

True, but the purpose of a lawsuit in these circumstances is to present real evidence of fraud to a judge. Where is it?

These press conferences are nothing more than glorified publicity stunts.

No idea. I'm willing to wait for a couple of weeks without getting my panties in a wad. If there is even 25% of what they say there is, its a pretty big deal.

Do you all waste this much time trying to convert flat earthers? Scientologists? Just wondering because the idiot you are arguing with is in a cult just like those. You can't change their minds with facts.

I don't know anyone who is a flat-earther or scientologist. Unfortunately, I have family that eats this crap up and I want to get better at talking to them. So this is kind of practice in some ways.

We've been through this several times. If they have something, they are going to wait until the last minute to dump it. They want chaos.
So when -- at the very last minute -- nothing gets dumped, what's gonna be your new line?

So when -- at the very last minute -- nothing gets dumped, what's gonna be your new line?

His new line will be “Donald obviously had plenty but he did what was best for the country and stepped aside.” He will make a hero out of him and pray he runs again in 2024 (he won’t).

This is what republicans like crazy hole do.

So The Elite Strike Squad dumped Sidney Powel because - apparently - she was even too much for Trump.

I think this highlights the real risk for the Republican Party. The base is with Trump - full stop - cult leader style. The conservative-but-rational flank of the party has now built a Frankenstein they can't control. If they were to abandon Trump right now in favor of democratic norms, he could burn the party down.

I think this is why Powel got dumped. Trump's ultimate hand - not yet played - is dumping on the Republican Party as a whole. Forcing a choice - total loyalty or total internal war. No wiggle room. No takebacks. Either support the coup, or you're the enemy. Sidney Powell was going to force Trump to play that hand right now, as she was already suggesting Republicans may have been benefitting from vote rigging too and throwing GA Gov and SOS under the bus as part of the plot.

Do not underestimate the potential for chaos between here and Inauguration day. Joe Biden will be sworn in as POTUS, but the ceiling for chaos is very high. Trump retains insane amounts of power through at least the Jan 5th Georgia Runoffs.

He can single handedly give the Senate to Democrats with one tweet. He knows it. Mitch knows is. It's a hostage situation. Trump has zero loyalty or care about the Republican Party. All he cares about is himself. He would gladly hand the senate to Democrats if it meant he got a marginal and temporary boost to his own ego.

If you want to game this out - you have to view every decision as a function of Trump's ego. Trump will always choose a near-term ego boost over a long-term strategic play. He's not trying to figure out how to stay in office - he's trying to maximize his ego - each day - by proving to himself how powerful he is.

I think you're right, Boosted87. Yesterday there was a rally in Georgia where a bunch of good ole boy MAGA chuds were demanding that 'milk toast' Republicans get off their butts and prevent Trump from having this election stolen from him or they won't ever be supporting the GOP again.

It's why Mitch and Friends are buddy buddy with him. Trumps' Ego holds power. He has already destroyed the Republican party. This Party is now Trumpism. The winner of the Congressional race in Georgia will determine Trump's power. If Democrats take it, Trumpism is weakened.

I think you misunderstand what Trump represented and what it will do to the party. He replaced conservatism being the driving message with populism. He was the anti-politician. That sentiment isn't going away any time soon.
