is it because our gimmicky tempo on offense gives them NO time to rest? The time of possession in all of our games is soo lopsided, I don’t see how any defense can sustain an entire game. It’s no wonder NONE of the top tier programs use this kind of tempo strategy because it can’t be sustained with a P5 schedule. How does heupel not understand this?

The defense isn’t the problem. Could the pass rush be better? Sure. The issue is line blocking on the Oline and having better drives because we can run the ball better and/or DG has more time

Isn’t high scoring, low TOP common in big12 football?

if anyone watched the Penn State at Minnesota game Saturday PJ Fleck was masterful at 'shifting gears' on offense with the playclock and clock management in general. Heup looks like an amateur in comparison, he doesn't know how to read the feel of the game & where momentum is shifting

It would be cool if JH slowed the offense a bit for the freshman and the defense but whatever.

Well the same quick pace offense got us to back to back undefeated seasons and NY6 Bowls... Didn't it?

Our defense is ranked #37. It's not bad. The biggest difference between 2017/2018 and this year, though, is turnover ratio. We were top notch those season at +17 (ranked #2) in 2017 and +14 (ranked #3) in 2018, but in 2019 we are -1 which ranks somewhere around #70. We turned people over and used those possessions to win games. We're not getting all those extra possessions this season. It's just one factor but I think it has big-time weighting that goes with it.

With an experienced QB.
Agree but QBs at the college level don't get experience by watching. They have to play to get that experience. The only exception is if they are around 3-4 years before they get their shot. Kyler Murray is an example. He was used part time or sparingly for two seasons and then finally got his shot as a Junior. He is outside the norm, though, as is demonstrated by him being the #1 pick in the NFL draft. He's a freak. If most kids nowadays aren't playing by their Sophomore season they are probably going to remain a backup, barring injuries. We are playing a true freshman QB because of injuries.

Joe Burrow didn't win a starting job until transferring for his junior year; just an extreme example.
