Unless we are going to run the triple option, the QB needs to be a threat in the passing game. Holman, IMO, is a much better passer than Patti. Patti might be a better runner, but the defense needs to respect the passing game or they are going to stack 8 or 9 guys in the box to stop the run. I think after Holman, Harris is probably a bit more mobile than Schneider, but like previously mentioned, if Schneider could become more mobile, he might be the 2nd best option. I would imagine that getting a QB that fits the system would be a top priority for coach Frost this offseason- might be a HS recruit, might be a JUCO. If it's a HS kid, might not see them that much until later in the season, if its a JUCO, they are probably being brought in to start right away.
One last thing about the mobility issues of our QB's. There is a lot you can do with the spread, you don't necessarily have to run the ball a ton with your QB. Urban Meyer won a national championship at Florida with Chris Leak, a guy that is really not suited for the QB run game. Yes they did bring Tim Tebow in that year for 3rd and 1 and in goal line packages, but how did they get to 3rd and 1 and how did they get into the red zone in the first place, Chris Leak.
Our problem on offense is not the QB, that will be okay one way or the other if Frost is as good as advertised. Our problem is we can't block anybody. We get absolutely no push whatsoever. It wouldn't matter if we had Vince Young back there handing off to Ricky Williams or throwing to Jerry Rice the offense wouldn't go very far because the guys up front aren't even coming to close to doing their job.
