I always asked the question, do we want to continue to dominate at a lower level or move up and play on the same level as the big boys? It was always fun winning and dominating, but at some point we had to make the jump. I had a feeling there would be some serious growing pains when we did make the jump, and I think that's what we're going through right now.
Like a lot of people, I wasn't thrilled when we hired Gus, mainly cause he's the coach we beat in the Peach Bowl and so I wanted someone better, but I feel like whoever we hired, we were going to experience these growing pains. I think there are strong leaders on the team, which is why we haven't quit on Gus and nearly knocked off a top ten team on the road (quite impressive!). I'm willing to give 3 loss Gus (might need to revise that now) until the end of the season to see how things go and then evaluate where the program should go from there. I think Gus would be the first to say he needs to step down if he thinks he's not getting the job done. At most, he's probably got one more year to get us into the top 4 of the conference or else we're probably going another direction.
