I'm gonna watch...but, no expectation but nothing but a blow out...by half time. I'd be surprised if it's close. When we beat Memphis earlier they were out 4 players or so I think.

Hey @honors, lets extend that contract for 4 more years cause yea, Dawkins made the tourny twice in his life...or whatever.

Just got home and turned the game on. For some reason I am not surprised at what I see 🤮

We need to find a coach to take us to the next level, and I understand we need a lot more investment in our program as well. I know Dawkins isn’t that guy. He’s had a good run (well, not lately). Time to move on.

Memphis is pretty good. UCF got lucky to catch up. But, then Memphis flicked a switch and jumped back up by ten. Memphis is playing a lot of players for this game.

I as POTY typically don't respond to emotionally pathetic three star recruits..

UCFacts are
Disappointing season
Lots of potential that UCFailed

We are 2 game away from where Memphis is. That's the heart breaking part of sports. So close but insignificant at being close.

Your myopicany is showing. When you become a big time UCFan like me, you'll see the big picture.

Before you post a stupid rebuttal, reread the UCFacts above. ..

What does that mean? The only thing that separates UCF and Memphis right now is 2 games?

After six years as UCF's head BB coach I no longer have any confidence Dawkins will ever take us to winning consistently. In the Big12 his teams will be sub par. He had plenty of time to recruit his own players. I see his coaching ability to be average. His game planning and his ability to keep his players focused for the complete game is below average.

They have a few players from Florida that Dawkins can’t even get into their house to talk to them. It’s frustrating. We don’t have to leave State and still can’t recruit.
Minott is from Boca Raton, he’s a really nice prospect. I don’t think they have any other FL players? Who are the others?

Mostly, their roster is local Memphis kids.

Dawkins best ally is apathy and low expectations for the program.

Had Frost not come in the football team would have lower expectations as well. 2017-2018 teams completely changed the program interest level and expectations. While GOL had success he never stringed multiple seasons in having the team in the spotlight.

Dawkins had one season, and the program interest and expectations fall with each subsequent season.

Also credit ADDW for capitalizing on Frosts success.

He has a few IMG and Monte Verde kids.
Yeah...IMG and Montverde basically recruit Internationally, let alone Nationally with maybe 1 or 2 bench players that might be local.

5 Star Memphis Center Jalen Duren is a one and done player from the Northeast who played just 1 year at Montverde Academy last season.

You are from where you played. We don’t have to leave state to recruit but can’t get these kids.

LOL! For 8 months.

Those kids earned more $$$ "playing" at IMG and Montverde vs what they could make with NLI at UCF.

UCF had one "bench" player recruit from Montverde some 10-14 years ago or so...believe he was from Africa...sadly passed a few years after his college career was over.

Yeah forget Montverde and IMG, those aren’t local kids. They come from all over the world, no tie to this area.

But did you see the kid from Bishop Moore drop 31 in the AAC championship game for VT. Local player, committed to Wofford before Wofford’s coach went to VT. Can’t let prospects get away like that, what a shooter (and was probably gettable).

We can’t forget about the best players in our state. We should target them hard. That’s how you win.

I promise, you don’t have to respond to every post just to respond. I 100% agree with you that Dawkins leaves a lot to be desired bringing in prospects (I would argue that developing them, making them better players once they’re in the program is even more of a glaring weakness).

But man, just give it up. Montverde, IMG, etc., those are not typical schools. They’re international boarding schools with players from all over the country/world. Saying “Dawkins needs to recruit Central Florida players more” and saying “UCF needs to get more players from Montverde Academy”, is NOT the same thing.

Not being involved in recruiting kids that went to Dr. Phillips, Osceola, Bishop Moore, Jones, etc. - that’s a different story.

About 330 schools "missed out" on Cattoor back in HS (didn't offer him a scholarship) as he ended up signing with Wofford.

Once his Wofford Coach was hired the following Spring by Va Tech...Wofford gave him his release so he could follow said coach to Va Tech.

He had a nice career at Va Tech coming off the bench during his first 2 seasons (averaged 6.5 and 8.5 pts per game) before becoming a starter this year (ave 10 pts per game this year).

If we can never recruit top players, will we ever win? Will coaching ever take above average players and make them great? In Johnny's system I don't see it happening because it already has not happened. So many players regressing from their first year. Hmm. He was .650 for 8 years at Stanford. Never made the Tourney there.

Too many people on here think we should just give up and settle for below mediocre results. 68 teams make tourney and one is not us. Unacceptable to me.
100 if you count NIT. However, based on other conversations on this board, the program doesn't get the financial support from the University it needs (2nd lowest in AAC) and may or may not get more support after joining B12.

If they decide to hire someone else on a budget, how many good coaches would want to come. Entering the toughest conference in basketball at a lower budget than everyone else. Sounds like a career killer, and the complete opposite of the attractiveness of the football program.

Wait. We should get the best players? Genius!

How come nobody has thought of this or tried getting the best players in the state before?

Maybe we can count international recruiting HS like IMG as in-state. Then we get the best players in the world.
