Men’s Basketball Transfer Portal Open Thread

Would be nice to get commitments from Stillwell and Fulks before the end of the weekend.

Roster currently sits at three human beings (one of them being Ivy-Curry, who doesn’t have any eligibility left. He’s petitioning the NCAA for a sixth-year. I guess folks in the program feel good about the chances, not sure how?)…

Picked-up a commitment from a junior wing from Hampton - George Beale Jr.. Very solid three-point shooter (career 39%).
Looks like he came off the bench and is a scorer...hopefully he can bring a complete, team-oriented game since we saw our success when the ball hog moved on and we passed the ball to the open man, protected the ball and played defense.

Interesting buy-low prospect. Signed with Kentucky out of high school.

Played well for Georgetown over their last ten games of the season.
Comes from a good program and finished the year strong...hopefully he can bring a complete, team-oriented game since we saw our success when the ball hog moved on and we passed the ball to the open man, protected the ball and played defense.

Not sweating Ivy-Curry transferring. He should be out of eligibility anyway. I don’t know why he thinks he’s going to get a sixth year after having five full seasons of health?

The roster is back down to six total.

A huge issue here is that UCF has zero HS players signed in the ‘25 class (Thiam was in this class, reclassified).

The portal is fine to add impact players to your roster each year, that’s the game now.

But I still think it’s unacceptable for a P4 program to have ZERO HS commitments. Rebuilding by adding 6-8 rotation players to the roster each year is not sustainable (especially when your NIL budget is not competitive).

Alas,
PG - Fulks
Wings - Kugel, Beale Jr.
Bigs - Thiam, Burks, Hulsewe

This team needs everything…

Add a Bol to our bigs....highly rated recruit a year ago....he and Thiam will mean that we're the biggest team in the country for sure.......

Glad to see a big dude in the mix. As for High school, I don't think it really matters anymore. You bring them in and teach em up for a year or two, just when they show signs of being able to play they move on. It is a brave new world.

The problem is, I don’t think he was brought in to provide depth behind Thiam.

I would assume Thiam is gone. Any day now…
Don’t say that man!! Hopefully a capable backup which we lacked big time last year. Thiam and Stillwell would be great together

who knows just last year Michigan under former FAU coach had two 7 footers and Purdue had the tallest tandem in Edey (7-4) and William Berg (7-2). I think the Wisconsin team we played had two seven footers as well.

Why is it sad? They are just trying to take advantage of the situation. The situation that was created by fans and alumni that will spend countless hours and dollars to court players so that their school they follow succeeds.
I’m betting that when you look back at these guys 10 years from now, things will be quite a bit different

I talked to an NBA coach, watched him in Vegas, said that Thiam is an outside guy. He can be good with the shot blocking on the press and so forth for the offensively and defensively may not be made for the inside. So the 2 7footers may be very much on the table.

Like the old days at Georgetown when they had Mourning and Mutombo. We could probably play a 3-2. Big guys on blocks and other 3 on perimeter.

CBC was a curse, Dawkins should have been gone a month ago. Now slim pickings. Might as well keep him at this point write off 2025, and fire him in Feb when he has another finish in the bottom of a conference.
