Since the networks appear to be the power brokers here, it's good to hear that NBC might be competing with Fox and ESPN/ABC for the B12. The more the merrier (and possibly more lucrative). It's interesting that if NBC bids it would be for the B12 to provide "shoulder programming" for ND to ensure ND remains as an independent and on NBC. 3 bidders are better than 2 to get the best deal for the B12 (or 16 or 20). You can't make this stuff up....

I wouldn’t say that at all. People with antennas can get NBC, it’s one of the big 3 of tv channels with the furthest reach. I think this is for 1 game a week anyways, the noon lead in game to a Notre Damn’s 3:30p game. Similar to the SEC having that CBS game of the week, the Big12 will still get it’s main network contract for the rest of the league.

If you're not tuning into 365 Radio on Youtube, you're ill-informed. Sometimes it can get redundant but they usually bring on a lot of informed beat writers for the various schools.

That said, folks who are covering the SEC media days have said flat out, 40-50 teams will be a part of the new division 1. This has come from adamant SEC AD and coaches. Do the math and maybe there's room for one more mega conference. Que the Big12.

Yormark IS going to be aggressive and I see no sign that he would expand by 6 Pac12 teams to make it a 20 team conference and thus part of the CFP talk.

Maybe some ACC teams move on to the SEC or Big12, but I'm confident we've been fortunate enough to climb on board when we did.

NBC is a death sentence to the Big 12.
In the past I would have agreed.....but the B12 would share the headlines with ND. NBC can't afford to pay ND what they're asking for 1 game a week and will have to expand to accommodate. If they proceed there will be big money involved and that raises the price for anyone who wants the rights. And with NBC, CNBC, MSNBC, USA and streaming (don't you like Peacock?), NBC has some options. The CFB world is changing rapidly and the old days of asking what's on ESPN this weekend will be a thing of the past. And don't count out CBS....

Yeah NBC has a huge umbrella. They want more subscribers to Peacock and are trying to rival ESPN+ and Disney. Perfect timing for us.

The only thing that has changed, is ESPN may pay a bit more to the PAC to keep the content. That could keep PAC 12 together.

I don't think NBC is bidding on B12 at all.

I’m hoping the four corners hear how much more they can make with Big12 than Pac

That is all on ESPN. If they decide to up Pac to 31, 32 mil per year the difference wont be real big. Question is, Is it worth somewhat overpaying for PAC to keep all their inventory, and how much of that can you make up by keeping their half of B12 inventory lower.

You think inflation will make up for USC and UCLA leaving? I think PAC is taking a cut

My fear on this is they offer the PAC 12 $40M per school if they add 4-6 B12 schools and not bid at all on a B12 deal, making us into a not very glorified AAC...again.

Pairing us with ND on NBC might have been our best play to get a decent big network deal.

The major networks will certainly have their say on which teams transfer to the Big 12. This is why the process will take some time as they continue to look at the value each team adds with media content.

Here is a tweet that may possibly play out.

Nah, if ESPN still had a slice of the Big 10, I could see this playing out.....Now ESPN will want a strong PAC12 since they will certainly win that bid. I think that is where these recent Houston to the PAC12 rumors come from. Tim Brando was on 365 today and was gushing about what Houston adds to any league....I live in Houston, hold a graduate degree from there and they get hardly any run around here and can't fill a 30,000 seat stadium.

Interesting. Hoping that doesn’t backfire on the Big12’s position of perceived strength.

I think it is a position of strength, the p12 went scrambling months ago

I think everybody needs a pulse on where they stand and what the future potentially looks like. Nothing wrong with that.

I expected this could happen but Dodd saying the early negotiation could lead to Texas and OU leaving to the SEC early

wanted an Austin away game oh well

Looks like Washington now talking to b10. Im sure the tv contracts are colluding to add Oregon/wash + the LA schools which will kill the p12 and force the 4 corners into b12

My guess is the PAC as a power conference will end. Big12 will pick up 4 PAC teams eventually with the encouragement of the media bidders. Oregon and Washington will go to the Big10. It's just a matter of time. It's a good move for Yorkmark to open negotiations early imo.

In your scenario where does Stanford land?

Stanford and Cal may also end up in the Big10 or independent. It depends if they can make more as an independent rather than in a depleted PAC. Their academics align well with the Big10 and are large markets. The question is will the large market translate to enough fans especially with Cal.

I think ideally OU/UW are in. The question is can they get Nd/Stanford. If Nd stays independent, stanford doesnt get an offer and they likely find 2 acc schools like UNC & FSU
