On 2nd thought, I kind of agree with Cuomo on this one. We need to get rid of the FDA altogether so this is a pretty good way of doing that. Just let the states determine what is safe for their citizens.
Let me get this straight: the same crowd who wants every single vote counted "so the people can be confident who won the election" doesn't see any need to verify the vaccine-maker's research so the people can be confident the vaccine is safe and effective?

I'll be honest, these quotes are news to me. I watched Cuomo being interviewed on Morning Joe the other day and he said nothing about the distribution plan, his remarks were all about why he asked for independent verification in order to build up consumer confidence in the vaccine itself.NY Gov. When school districts require vaccinations that have been approved by the FDA for a student to even attend, you would think the states would also find that FDA approval is good enough for such a minor illness.

For the record, you're talking about vaccines that have been around for a long time and have a solid track record. On the other hand, a covid-19 vaccine will be new to the market with no history other than 'based on our research trials, it works.'
Right? Either it’s so deadly that we need to separate human beings from each other entirely, everything else be damned, or it’s not. If you believe the virus is deadly enough to pause civilization, then you should be jumping at a vaccine because anything is better than the big scary virus.

Where the f**k did that gem come from? It will be FDA approved and people will be encouraged to take it so we can end this nightmare. But given how some wacko moms have freaked out about traditional vaccines, getting everyone to take the covid-19 vaccines won't be easy. Too many nut jobs in this country listening to wackos on social media telling them that this is really all about the government engineering 'mind-control' drugs and other equally silly conspiracy theories.
Well originally the goal was to keep hospitals from being overwhelmed. Then it was flatten the curve. Then it was 1 death is too many. Through it all, we were told that once there's a vaccine this would all be over, but now even with a vaccine we have to do more testing, and even when you get it you still have to wear a mask and socially distance. Some people just don't want this to ever be over.
