Burrow is good and has lots of weapons but Evan McPherson has been clutch all season 12/12 fg, 4 xp, 3 50+ yard FGs in the playoffs as a rookie.
Hahaha… I‘ll never forget that play when Nate Evans clobbered him good on the breakaway running attempt. Knocked his helmet off if I’m not mistaken. Nate proceeded to stand over Joe and spit on him while he was still down on his knees trying to gather his senses. The resulting 15 yd penalty negated the impending punt and kept the drive alive.
I’m convinced that shameful act by Evans was the turning point in the game. It not only led to a LSU TD but it really seemed to ignite Burrow and all his teammates.
The sideline cameras showed that Burrow was really pissed after that play. He played like a man possessed from that point forward. and was superb. He won the National Championship the following season and he’s heading to the Super Bowl!
Maybe UCF (or Evans in particular) can actually take some credit for Joe Burrows’ success. 😝

It was Connors. And I know other teams fans have said somebody spit on Burrow but I never saw it. Just looked like trash talk to me.
McVay tried to blow the game w bad game management but Shannahan outdid him those last 5 minutes . Garrapalo just can’t get over the hump being a game manager

At the viewing party I attended, we played it back and in ultra HD it sure looked like a projectile of spit was launched.
Whether there was spit or not, I still maintain that this ignited a fire in Burrow and the entire team. He would not be denied.
People are still overstating this pushed him to be great. It’s a weird flex I’m seeing everywhere from UCF fans. What was catalyst for Milton? He was a deer in headlights for a quarter and a half against Auburn. No one laid him out or spit on him and he just started clicking. Same with Burrows.

It’s seriously all over. They are going into Big 12 boards and posting it. Like we are the reason Burrows is great now. They are pretty much just laughing at it. I don’t even comment. Don’t want to be roped into delusional UCF fan before we even join league.
The turning point in the game to me seemed to be the silly unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Randy Charlton for “spiking” the ball on the ensuing drive - and when I say silly, I mean soft as heck.
We had them stopped with a sack on third down, the penalty have them for fresh downs, and they scored to make it 14-10 us. We eventually lost the lead after giving up three straight TD drives to them, never really looking like a contender in the game after that.
I mean I think it’s fun to play it up, but I do so all in jest… just for fun! I don’t think too many people are legitimately taking this idea to heart… are they?
Definitely they are serious. I haven’t seen one person say it and then say they were kidding.

It‘s just fun conjecture. But I was serious about how pissed I was at Evans for his classless taunt after Connors vicious hit. It fired up Burrows and his teammates and I doubt anyone can refute that. It’s been written and spoken about ad nauseam.
Possibly some are joking. But people saying coach O even said same thing validating it makes me think too many are using this as a flex. I’ve seen as far back as 2019 UCF fans talking about it. 3 years is a long joke.

Yep. since then a lot of talking and ‘winning the offseason’ by UCF before the season ends in the Boca or Gasparilla Bowl
Then blame injuries and arrests for why there weren’t enough wins. No other teams face those issues.
