It’s been 9 months. That’s 16% of the population. How does that equate to everyone already infected. Probably an extra million or million and a half would die if we waited until natural herd immunity.

If we just got 10-20 million doses by spring it would probably cut that million in half or more.

269,518 dead out of 328M is 0.08% of the population.

Based on IFR estimates we will be pushing 1 million deaths before reaching herd immunity.

Point is the vaccine will come in time to save hundreds of thousands of lives.

shuuuugh I had him at 16 hehe

If we are truly at 100 million infections we should be really close to herd immunity. 87 million people had covid without even knowing they had it. Assuming how much I've been out, I'm sure I had it.
Herd immunity is a math problem. R0 of 3 means 67% of the population need to be immune for herd immunity to begin to take effect. Half of the 100M estimate are in the past 6 weeks. So even if nobody else caught the the virus we are still going to have 100-150k more trailing deaths from those already infected.

It would mean the flu is way more deadly just not as contiguous.
Its a good thing we've done as much testing as we have, but its going to make it impossible to know how many symptomatic cases there were now. All we can go on is estimates for basically everything other than deaths.

Flu has IFR of 0.1%. Even if you take the 100M as gospel and assume nobody currently infected will die on a future date, 270k deaths out of 100M infections is an IFR of 0.27% or 2.7x the flu. But of course it is close to 0.4% and more people currently infected from the 100M will in fact die.
Math.

You're still accounting that 270k was truly covid driven. How many cancer patients in that number? Or people already with major pre-existing conditions.
Yes I am using the CDC estimate number. They also estimate...get this...flu deaths.

They also said 94% had other conditions. Covid has been fear porn for the most part. There is a huge difference between dying from covid and dying with covid. Out of the 15 or so people I know that had it, only 1 said it sucked. The others just said loss of smell/taste and almost cold like symptoms but short and mild.
I know you are dumb as shit but you don’t believe the 94% number. It’s been explained to you many times.

Its the first year of a new virus. Numbers are going to be off one way or another for a couple of years before they really have an idea of what exactly happened.

The part that is annoying they are still pushing the mask deal. The data isn't backing up that it works at all. The study showed zero difference between mask wearing vs not. Of course they tried to say...oh but it would have been different if everyone wore a mask. Like double cloth is going to stop something. We are touching covid at stores then touching our masks to get it on and off.
The mask thing doesn't bother me anymore. Even if it doesn't help, it doesn't hurt anything of substance either. Lockdowns are a different story

The estimated population of US is 331 million. if 100 mil have had it that means aprox 31% not 16 percent.

Kim Jong Un is executing people for not following Covid protocol.

That's not even a joke.

Your democrats aren't scared while you're in gloves.
Let me get this straight: You point out the idiotic "do as I say, not as I do" hypocrisy of some Democrats who were caught acting the same way the chuds you defend behave all the time?

THAT's your witty comeback? okay, um, 'ouch.' :)

The problem is your chuds are causing businesses to fail while they don't even follow their own commie rules. They know the rules are dumb.
Weird. If we needed to reopen businesses lickedy-split back in May before we met the Trump Administration's own Federal guidelines for State reopenings, why are we having this conversation?

Since we ignored the health experts' "commie rules," why are we in the situation we're in today? Wasn't this covid "hype" supposed to fade away after the election?

Not only were our resident chuds dead-wrong about everything to do with the virus, they don't even have the balls to admit it.

Sorry I can't hear you. I'm eating at the French Laundry with 15 medical lobbyists and professionals all maskless and close. Later we are going to a maskless protest with the Chicago mayor. Then on a flight with the Denver mayor.
These might work better against a poster who disagrees with you. Stupid people doing stupid things can be found in people of all political persuasions.

I'm still trying hard to understand how highlighting these hypocrisies somehow helps your cause. If the virus is "just the sniffles" and something we don't need to worry about, shouldn't you be championing these lefties who've behaved the way you want all people to behave?

So this one absolutely infuriates me. A girl I went to school with recently died. Its hard to not feel for the husband but he is blaming her death on covid and going all over Facebook telling his story. Well, the problem with it is that she has had ALS for 5 years and has basically been an invalid for the last 2 and has been in hospice for several months. To me this goes beyond the CDC reporting or the media. The guy lost his wife, and I understand his grief, but it doesn't seem right to misrepresent her death in a way that freaks other people out.
