No staff and less than 22 days from kickoff: (Pic)

if Frost backs out the media is going to crush him. It would be different if he only took half the staff but he took every single assistant & even support staff.

UCF would be left in an unprecedented situation for an undefeated team and no matter how Frost tries to spin it to blame UCF he will looks worse. Try to go recruit after that Bad Pr
The only way Frost wins in this situation is if he coaches and wins the game and rides off into the sunset.

If he doesn’t coach it and UCF looks bad, it’s a bad look for him, etc

If he coaches and loses, people will say that his 12-0 team and system was a fraud against better SEC competition.

If UCF wins without him. Oh boy.
If UCF wins without a coach, we may get some sympathy points. Nothing more

Yes. It's not just calling plays. It's subtleties. It's running several plays to get a defense thinking one way, or moving one way, and then...bang....you do something to take advantage of it. It's not just picking plays out of a book and randomly calling them. If it were that easy we could get one of the experts off this board to call the game.
It pretty much just comes down to execution. You can call a run up the middle against Michigan with a 160 lb RB and he runs it 85 yards for a TD. Or run the same RB up the middle for no gain and people complain. Call nothing but pass plays all day you still have to have the players execute. Anyone that has knowledge of the offense can call plays.

Well, today's the day we find out whether he's coaching it, right?

Any idea when we'll know?

I think we all need to take a step back from the ledge. Once the dead period starts on 12/18 and the early signing period ends on 12/20, the ex-staff will have plenty of time to prepare for this game. The idea that the new staff could do anything is insane.

This. Heupel already has said he couldn't do it. and wants to watch practices and evaluate players for next year.

A new coach has had to have called the plays at a Bowl game once in the past 10-20 years. Does anyone know of any examples?

Last year Alabama? I think Kiffin left before the bowl game, but very different circumstances

Alabama DC is now the Tennessee head coach. He is coaching in the CFP games, but currently recruiting for Tennessee. Not too unusual.

This entire issue is contractual. If UCF set the condition as a win, then they need to pay up. However, if they set the condition as win and you need to be an employee when the payment occurs, then they aren't eligible as they term right after the game. Is it fair? No but that is how almost every performance bonus I've ever received works. You need to be there when it pays out.

Well good luck in the bowl game with no coaching staff that knows the system. 60 degrees in lincoln. No snow. The San Diego of the Big 10. Besides we have 2 indoor practice fields if there is snow.
More like Nobraska is the "corn in the turd"...
