In a Q & A between Calvin Barrett, Editor at Lawless Republic and Ericka Brockish, a staff writer at FanSided and site expert for Knightly Review, this was said about Gus Malzahn:

Q: I picked the Knights as a dark horse championship contender before the season. Why have they fallen short of expectations this year?

A: Two words, Gus Malzahn. The play-calling this season has been the most predictable play-calling I have ever seen. There is no creativity within the offense and other than getting the ball to RJ Harvey, Malzahn is not getting the ball to his playmakers. The defense has also looked at it worse since 2019. The fact that our defensive coordinator will not make adjustments at halftime and is hell-bent on sticking to a game plan that isn’t working is a clear problem and the very reason we can’t stop high-flying offenses.

They always use the excuse of what we saw in film wasn’t what they did. Why not do the same? You can change personnel and packages every week. You don’t have to run the same exact plays against every opponent. Change it up. Force them to say they showed something different against us.

I am so tired of excuses. It's seems to be clear what the problems are.

Whats funny on the playcalling is that this is maybe the first year we haven't seen much of the usual Gus trick plays randomly thrown in throughout the games.
That's true, I wonder why?

I don’t care what plays he calls. Just call plays your guys can execute. You have to know your personnel and lead them to success. At this point, let the QBs call the plays. They typically know what will work.

I thought it was because Gus read this forum during the offseason when we complained he was doing too many trick plays.

I'd like to see a random fake punt/ fake kick or some kind of flea flicker thrown in for the hell of it. What have we got to lose at this point?

I don't think it's good to give up all trick plays especially if the ship is going down on the season.

If this is true that Malzahn reads the forum, then we should start asking for the head coach to be fired too.

Maybe, just maybe, he doesn't realize that it's him, and fires himself. Wouldn't this solve the buyout issue?
